Electrical Service

They looked at the wiring  and said they couldn't deal with it and to call somebody else. They did not try to get somebody else from Home Depot to try and solve the problem. They are probably not hiring high quality electricians. He should have gone the extra mile to fix the issue. Don't use Home Depot for electrical installations. I did get my $100 back when they did not do the installation and told me that they would give me a 1/2 off discount on a fan.

Flooring

In saying "We" I mean my father and I. I live in the same house with my parents and my small children. My father was to pay for the flooring, but I was there with him at every aspect of the business transaction. In October we decided to replace our living room and kitchen floor. We met with a man by the name of Mike Brown and he set everything in motion. Our first visit with Mr. Brown was fairly pleasant, he dealt with us in a timely manner and answered most of our questions. The measuring guy came out to measure the floors, this man was nice and thorough. After the measurement we went back to home depot to set up the installation. At this time Mike Brown was busy dealing with every other customer. He couldn't stop to deal with us. Two other employees sat with us but offered no assistance. As soon as Mr. Brown was done with his customers he dealt with us. We set up the installation date. Now first off the flooring was to be delivered to our house, so it could acclimate to the temperature of the house. The delivery man called at 5:30am on a weekday to tell us he was on his way with the flooring. The delivery man came about 6:30 am, with a loud truck complete with lights in a residential neighborhood that hadn't quite waken up yet. We were very worried about our neighbors complaining about his much action so early in the morning. The installation date was a tight one because I was to leave on vacation for my sister's wedding on 12/15/2010. The date was to be on 12/13/2010. On this date, the installation man calls and says he's sick. They give me a story that they only have one guy who will do hard floors and he's a single father and his kids were sick over the weekend. I'm a single mother so we had sympathies for the installer. They said they'd come the next day, 12/14/2010. Now for the record, we paid our cleaning lady extra money in the months spent from first inquiring about the flooring to the actual installation. The living room was a stark contrast from it's usual appearance. We emptied out tables, a china cabinet, and book cases. In the beginning we talked to Mike Brown about the installers moving furniture. They talked about moving 6 pieces for $25, my father told Mr. Brown that we had more than just six pieces of furniture and that he'd pay extra so that they could move all the pieces of furniture. Also, as far as telling us what was supposed to be done before installation we got random pamphlets in the mail. We called Mike Brown about the pamphlets and he assured us everything would be fine. When the installer's actually came it was my 12 year old daughter and myself at home. My daughter was the one home sick this time. When the installers came in, we had lamps still out and the Television system was still hooked up. We didn't want to be plunged into darkness with no TV and we figured we could just move things when the installers got here. Two men showed up and the one in charge just automatically had a bad attitude (this was supposedly the one who had canceled on us the day previous). He complained that we still had the television plugged in and lamps out. I told him that we could move them real quick. He went outside. My sick daughter came out of her room in her pajama's and helped me to unplug the lamps and unhook the television system. He wasn't even gone a minute when he came back in and declared that he'd have to come back tomorrow to do the floors since we weren't ready for him. Note that this was a Tuesday and I was leaving town the next day, Wednesday (tomorrow). I told him 'whatever' knowing full well there was to be a discussion between myself, my father and home depot. He went through the house, telling me that lamps had to be removed, and that if there was anything remaining in the china cabinet that had to be removed. He said that we had to have the television unplugged and removed. Then he went through the kitchen and said that a television/microwave cart which was on wheels had to be completely emptied before they would move it and that basically all the stuff in the kitchen we had to move ourselves. One might ask why the heck were we going to pay them extra to move the extra items?? The one installer that wasn't 'in charge' looked at me and said he was sorry as the two left the house. I called my father who was on another line with Home Depot and their installation people. Apparently the installer was on the phone with his boss claiming our house looked exactly how it had look with the measurement guy's pictures. This of course was complete BS. There was no way in h*** that our house looked the same it had in October when the measurement guy first came out. Like I said we paid a house keeper big time money to assist us and we emptied out everything in both the living room and kitchen. We worked ourselves ragged getting ready for this and these installation guys were too full of themselves to actually do some work. My father called and raised h*** with home depot and asked for a full refund. We canceled the whole $2000+ order / installation process. My father got most of the money back, except for an $100 charge. We instead went with another company which was a day and night experience. It might have cost a bit more, but I'd do that company over Home Depot each and every time. Home Depot's professionalism and customer service leaves a lot to be desired.

THEY HAD A HORRIBLE TIME CLARIFYING THEIR AGENDA. I UNDERSTOOD THAT THEY WOULD BE BRINGING THE ISLAND WITH THEM TO INSTALL IT AND THEY SAID THAT IT WAS MY RESPONSIBILITY TO GET IT OUT TO MY HOUSE.
