I ordered carpet that was highly recommended by the salesman, Randy Mount, at Grigsby’s. The actual carpet did not look like the large sample in the store. I stopped the installation and called Randy. Randy sent their installation manager, Lucho, to my house, and Lucho agreed that the carpet did not look like the sample. Randy said that they should complete the installation and that their claims manager would look at it the following week. Grigsby’s claims manager stated that my carpet was defective and filed a claim with the manufacturer. The carpet actually was not defective but had a weird angle in the pattern that gave the illusion that it was crooked and defective; this was not visible in the sample or the photo. Grigsby’s was not willing to take financial responsibility themselves for the bad carpet that they had sold me, but they arranged for the manufacturer to provide replacement carpet. The selection from this manufacturer was extremely limited, and the manufacturer states in its online blog that this carpet fiber is known to mat down quickly. Therefore, I preferred to get replacement carpet from a different manufacturer. Grigsby’s sent me a bill for the defective carpet that they had decided to install in my home. I asked Grigsby’s to cancel the charge, but they refused. When I did not pay, Grigsby’s sent me a letter demanding that I pay their invoice, or they would take further actions. Grigsby’s manager, Penny, gave me no option other than to pay their invoice and select different carpet from the same manufacturer. Penny would not allow me to cancel my order or to pay more to purchase a better quality carpet from a different manufacturer. I called and left a message for the store owner, Dub Stover, but he did not return my call. I investigated all of my options. I reluctantly selected replacement carpet that I did not want and that is likely to wear poorly from the same manufacturer rather than pursue this matter legally.

Perfect. They were on time and did an excellent job. Carpet was installed in a bedroom, closet and vanity area. It was a pure white carpet and the guys were very careful that it remained that way during the installation.

Best price - however, first time carpet delivered it was cut wrong. Had to reorder and wait. Second time installer broke an antique light fixture in hall moving carpet to bedroom. Replaced the light fixture with nice new fixture but i can not say things went that well Might use again but not sure.
Response from Grigsby's Carpet Showroom
"Mr. [Member Name Removed] , sorry I didn't see you review before now. I apologize for the difficulties you experienced during installation it certainly is not the experience we would like you have with our store. I hope that you told the salesperson about the light fixture that was broken, if you did not please call the store and ask for Penny and we will get that taken care of. Again I apologize for the late response and the difficulties you had."

The installation was scheduled at least three weeks in advance.  The carpet was being installed before we actually moved in.  There were some items in the house but there was nothing in the rooms where the carpet was to be installed.
There were some scheduling issues and installation issues.  Carpet on stairs was replaced and installed correctly.
After some frustration initially, carpet looks great.

"[Member Name Removed], We received notification of your review on Angies List, you failed to mention the reason for the issue with your floor which was hollow spots. This is a common problem with wood floors due to the fact that concrete slabs and sub floors are not always perfectly even ( level ). Then you compounded the problem going all over your floor with a hammer/ rubber mallet trying to find hollow spots which in fact created more than the initial 12 you told us about plus you dented your floor with whatever you used. You told us several different objects during this process. As I stated before this is a common problem with wood floors so much so that manufacturer makes an injection kit for that very purpose. You refused to let us fix your floor by using a syringe that makes a pin hole and fills the gap with adhesive and gets rid of the hollow spots, instead you demanded the floor be replaced. As you know we spoke with C&C in regard to your wood floor and they stated that they had the very same issues with you that we did and you were extremely difficult to deal with. It was then our assumption that is why you didn't go back to C&C when you had an insurance claim and came to us instead. Just for the record, you did not pay the balance owed on your floor, which we were forced to pursue thru the law suit. In your law suit you sued us for approximately 10 times the value of your floor. Finally I find your comments that Mr. Stover , our sales staff and myself to be untrustworthy very offensive we deal with thousands of customers if that were true I doubt Grigsby's would have an A rating by so many other customers"

Everything went well. The salesman was very professional and came to measure and give an estimate in a short time. The installation was done two days later. The four installers were on time, quick, and very professional. They moved furniture and replaced it to my satisfaction.

The carpet installers did an awesome job installing the carpet.

The tile installer did a horrible job. To start with they did not show up with the right tile. It was suppose to be two different sizes 10" x 24" and 5" x 24", they showed up with only the 5" x 24" tile.

The installer kept complaining the the floors was not level and it would take more cement to fix it, after the 3rd time of him saying this I asked....Do I needed to go get more to make it right and he said no.

After the job was complete I thought it looked kind of rough (i.e. not level) but my wife said (when this was being installed she was out of town) we where get tile the looked like old time wooden floors. So I thought this is how it should look.

Wrong!!! my wife got back from her trip and said why is there uneven spots in the tile, at which I said that I thought that's how it suppose look.

I called and sent Randy email with pictures of the uneven tile, he has not called or emailed me back.

WARNING!!! you pay for what you get when you deal with this company.

I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE.

This was a fiasco.  The tile installer Grigsby's sent over did not even show up, he sent two kids barely out of high school over and they had no idea what they were doing.  One admitted it was his first time.  Gaps of 1/4 inch were viable even after reattaching base boards.  No thought was given to layout before they began leaving very odd sizes of cut tiles on the edges.  Basically a very ugly job.  We had to hire another company to come in and correct the fixable areas such as replacing the tile pieces left short on the edges, but nothing could be done about the layout without replacing the entire floor. The carpet installers we had were professional and did a great job.  The sad part was even they commented on what a terrible job the tile layers did.  They volunteered their comments before we even mentioned our experience.  That's just how bad the job was done. The hardwood installers missed their appointment date and put us back a week.  When the following week arrived, only one installer showed up and he could not move furniture.  Instead, he laid about 1/4 of the floor down and came back on Saturday with his father to finish the job.  Saturday arrived, they show up, The father realizes his son did not use any glue on the hardwood.  They had to leave to go to Lowe's to buy glue, return, and take up all the previous day's work and start over.   Gigsby's has been a ridiculous form of keystone cops act.  I will never return to that store.  Find another store if you value your money, time, and home.

I had used Grigsby's 20+ yrs ago at my former house and was pleased, so I went there again when I needed carpet for a house I recently moved into. Choosing the carpet at the store went OK, although I didn't have much help from the salesman. Since I had already moved in, I was told the installers would move the furniture out of one room at a time, lay the carpet, move the furniture back in place, move to another room & repeat the process. However, that's not how it was done. The installers arrived on schedule and proceeded to move ALL the furniture out of every room. There was furniture in every space that was not carpeted and even some bed frames outside.  The installers worked for 12.5 hours continuously - from 9:00 a.m. till 9:30 p.m.  I will say the installed carpet looks very nice. However, there was no room for me in the house during the installation so I spent the day outside or in the garage, and  I didn't appreciate having to do that. Furthermore, several  pieces of furniture were not moved back to their original location. Also, an inexpensive wall clock in an uncarpeted area fell & broke, but the installers did not mention it. One of the most aggravating things is that my uncarpeted floors (ceramic tile) now have a "sticky" residue that I have not been able to get rid of. In addition, my Dyson vacuum would not move on the new carpet, so I had to buy another vacuum. This is apparently a known problem for some types of carpet, so it would have been nice if the salesman had mentioned it before the purchase.
Probably the most disappointing thing, however, is that NO ONE from Grigsby's contacted me in any way after the installation. I purposely waited to write this review to see if I would receive a phone call or a mailing asking about my satisfaction with the purchase & installation, but I have not. I consider that very poor customer service.

Grigsbys itself is fine. They solved the immediate problems, as I will explain. But I think everyone should know that the installers are not employed by Grigsbys, they work for the salesperson that sold you the carpet(That is what they told me, when I asked how long they had worked for Grigsbys. I asked how much they were being paid for this job and it seemed really low compared to how much I paid Grigsbys especially when they don't get any benefits). You need to check every item being installed and monitor the whole process.
A team of 3 arrived to install carpet. Two of them spoke no English and the third, who seemed to be the team leader and most experienced, had a limited English vocabulary. This just makes communication difficult, since I do not speak their language.
1.     I noticed that the carpet cushion sent out was the cheapest one, when I had ordered the middle priced one. Had I not noticed this, the cheaper pad would have been installed. I called Grigsbys and they promptly sent out the correct one.
2.     Then I saw a large crack in the concrete floor when the old pad was removed. The leader did not seem to think it was a problem, but it looked like a problem to me. So I called Grigsbys again and the person who brought the correct pad told the team to use a float compound to fill in the cracks. They thought it would be dry in an hour. They wanted to start installing before it was dry, but I said no. Two hours later it still wasn?t dry, so the team decided to come back the next morning.
3.       I went out front before they left to make sure they had brought the right carpet. They were getting ready to put the old carpet and pad into their van. My new carpet was in the street with about 1/4 of the plastic covering gone. They wanted to put my new carpet back in their van with the old carpet and pad. I said I did not want my new carpet in with the old stuff. I wanted them to bring my new carpet into my house, so after some quibbling, they agreed to do that. I did not like my new carpet lying in the street where it could have gotten gas or oil on it nor did I want it put back in their van which had a very dirty floor.
4.       I don?t require people to remove their shoes before entering my house. But still, this is brand new carpet. They seem to have a lack of consideration for someone else?s property. We had the room painted a few weeks ago. Now the baseboards have some nicks and scratches from their work, the wall has some oily stains from where one of them sat with their head against the wall. They did not take their shoes/boots off, but used their shoes/boots to kick and shuffle the new carpet around.
5.       When I pointed to tack strips that seemed rotted to me, they replaced them, but they wouldn?t have if I had not questioned it. They did try to fix problems that were pointed out, but I didn?t expect to have to be the project manager. I expected them to check the order to make sure they had the right pad and to be the experts and notice problems. They seemed nice enough, but it is hard to tell when people are speaking a language among themselves that I don?t understand.
Maybe if I had a million dollar home, the A-team would have been sent out. This team just weren't professional. Grigsbys did respond to the immediate problems and the salesman said they stand behind the installation, so I can?t fault the company. I would buy carpet from them again, but I would not use their installers. I would hire my own.

Installers were very prompt and moved large furniture out of the room.  They removed old carpeting and prepped floor for installation.  This is an add-on sunroom and there were some problems in the transition area that had to be fixed, which led to this taking quite awhile longer than anticipated.  They did an excellent job fixing the area as well as coming up with solutions on how to make the transition area look great.  They stayed until the job was done (7:00 pm) and then moved furniture back in.  The floor looks fabulous and we couldn't be happier.
