Deghi Painting

"I arrived at her house at the scheduled time. The rooms she wanted painted were upstairs. She showed me a large bedroom and a full bath. She wanted to paint the bedroom walls and the ceiling different colors. She wanted the adjoining bathroom painted walls and ceiling also different colors.I told her it would probably take the full 8hrs. to paint the bedroom as it was a large room with 2 dormers and since I was painting the walls and ceiling I would have to cover the furniture with plastic and cover the entire floor with dropcloths, also since she was changing colors the walls and ceilings would need 2 coats of paint and I would have to mask off the woodwork and caulk behind it to keep new paint off the woodwork. This customer feels that to carry equipment and all the paint up a flight of stairs, move furniture and cover it with plastic, cover the carpet with canvas drops, mask and caulk the trim, apply 2 coats of paint on the ceiling which I had to cut in since the walls were going a different color, apply 2 coats of a different color paint to the walls, pull the tape uncover furniture, bag up the mess, fold drops, take all trash and equipment back downstairs and haul it off for 199.00 is only an average deal. She asked me after I got done what it would cost for the bath. I gave her a price her husband had me look at some windows and other exterior stuff he wanted painted. He said they would talk it over and get back with me. She emailed about doing the bathroom. She said she needed it done that week I believe because of company coming. I told her I could not do it in that time frame but I gave her a date within 2 weeks. She never contacted me to confirm by phone or email."

"According to the contract it was 199.00 for 8 total hours of painting, walls are not to be over 9ft tall and paint supplied by customer. We arrived at the job at 8:30. The walls in the room were 12ft, tall. Myself and another painter worked 5 hours each for a total of 10 hours total as this is what it took to put 2 coats of paint on the walls. I feel that painting a large room with 12 ft. walls 2 coats, moving furniture, even helping take down a large flat screen so we could paint behind it, taping off woodwork and covering furniture with plastic sheeting for 199.00 was a very good deal. (Member name removed) gave me a B grade for quality. I called him about it, and he said he gave me a B because when we pulled the tape there were a few places where the old color could be seen on the woodwork and in some areas the old paint color bled through. I would say when paint does not cover after 2 good coats unless you are using something like red tones which we werent if the paint does not cover the problem is with the paint which he provided and not the painter. As far as touch up around taped areas we did a touch up. The contract was for 8 hrs of painting not painting a room. We gave (Member name removed) 2 hours free to give him a finished quality job which he got. I cancelled the 199 big deal because of this experience.
