Getting an appointment takes a little while because Glen is so busy but it was worth the wait, I was not in a huge rush with the mild temperatures anyways. They did arrive a little late because they were held up on a job prior to mine, which is understandable and I have a flexible schedule so it did not cause me any issues. The wait on appointment and the tardiness for the appointment is why I gave them a B in punctuality.
They arrived both Glen and his employee were very polite, professional and considerate. They showed me exactly what they found and where the cracks were that needed to be sealed, then went to work cleaning my fireplace. Glen is training the other gentleman, letting him get familiar with different types of chimney's and things that could come up before he puts him out on his own, so he sat and talked with me while the other guy was working. I'm not sure my chimney had ever been cleaned, but it looks brand new (well to me anyways).
Talking with Glen you can tell he is an amazing person and I will definitely use them for as long as they are in business and I have a chimney. They are what you hope for in a company, great people all around!
I called him back when I had the gas logs to set up a time from him to come.
He showed up they day and approximate time he gave us with all the tools. We talked about what he was going to do and agreed to the plan. He started with the chimney inspection and said that there was no need. Looked good and shouldn 't need cleaning. He then proceeded to install the gas logs. All the parts were there and then some (provided by the manufacturer). When he was done he cleaned up and started the training. Not much to it. Common sense prevails.
I usually call to make an appointment at the end of September or October to prepare for the winter.
When I called for the appointment, October 2nd, he was already booked up until the 18th. The appointment was set for the 18th at 1:00pm.
The receptionist advised the chimney sweep could possibly be a little late depending on the difficulty of the previous appointments.
The day before the appointment I was contacted by the company to verify the appointment for the next day.
On the 18th, about 45 minutes before the appointment, I was contacted by Glen, the chimney sweep, who advised he was on his way.
Upon arrival Glen laid out tarps in front of and to the sides of the wood stove door.
He then brought in his bucket of cleaning tools and a vacuum.
He went up on the the roof, checked the the chimney liner, and then brushed it. He came into the house and checked and cleaned the firebox.
He brushed the interior of the firebox and had the vacuum going at the same time. The vacuum is very quiet.
Once he was finished he carefully folded up the tarps and removed them.
He advised me on the condition of the stove and wrote up the bill.
He was very professional the entire time.
Obviously, I've been happy with his work . As I said above, I have used the company for the past 3 years.
