go well at first and just ended up going downhill. It all began with me trying
to get my garage organized for Father's Day as a gift for my husband. Well, I
looked up organizing companies and called around. Well, I ended up setting up a free
consultation with Faith Earls of Completely Organized Tulsa. I should have
known that it may be some issues when she told me she would come one day at a
certain time and pushed the time back, then she ultimately changed the date.
When she did come, she brought her eight month old baby with her which was fine
because it was a free consultation after all. I showed her my garage which has
not been touched since we bought and moved into this house a year ago. She
walked around and looked at it and quoted me a price of $50.00 per hour. Well,
we set up an appointment for the next week which was this past Wednesday. She
told me I needed to purchase shelves for the garage to have someplace to put
stuff and organize it. She said she would have someone with her with the tools
to place the shelves. I went to Home Depot and purchased shelves that cost me
over $300.00 in all. When they arrived she told me she was texting me sleepy
the evening before and didn't realize she told me to get those, she thought I
was getting cabinets! So they didn't
have the tools to put the shelves up. Now I have $300.00 worth of shelves
sitting in my garage that I purchased because she recommended it to me.
She informed me the
day before that she would be working
with me from 10 am-2 pm. She was
supposed to arrive at 10:00 am and charges by the hour. She arrived at 10:10 am and worked until
11:20 and said she needed a break to pump milk for her baby and have lunch. It
was frustrating because she had only been working for one hour and our time was
already limited to begin with. You would
think she would eat and feed the baby before coming to work a job. Well, she
left from 11:20 am and returned at 12:15 pm.
Her and the guy that was with her worked until 12:40 pm and called it a
day. She charged me and I paid $570.00 ($600.00 without discount) for 12 hours at a 5% discounted rate off of the $50.00 per hour Faith had
previously quoted me. She gave me the
homework assignment of sorting through all of my clothes (I have a lot of
clothes and shoes that were still in the garage). She was nice and the guy that
she brought with her was nice as well. Needless to say, we didn't get much done
in the garage at all and it was definitely not going to be ready for Father's
Day. I had asked her the week before if she thought we could work a few days
and be ready for Father's Day and she told me yes. That was the entire reason I
hired her to begin with. The next week
she told me she was only available that one day from 10 am-2 pm and only
actually worked for one and a half hours. She said she would charge me for two
hours because she was going to drop a couple of boxes off at Goodwill for me.
Well, I could have done that myself. I was left with a mess of a garage and
10-12 garbage bags full of stuff I had to haul and throw away. I was a little upset and disappointed, but
still willing to go forward and try to work with her because I had purchased
all those prepaid hours.
The final slap in the face came the day after when she sent
me a long text telling me she didn't realize my garage was so "dirty"
and I had so many clothes. She said she cannot work with me until I clean all
my cloths and get my "hoarding" situation together. She also said
that she would normally charge $100.00 a hour normally in my situation, but
because she quoted me $50.00 she will only charge me $75.00. She said she can
refund me the remainder of the hours that I prepaid her also. Well, first of
all, the clothes in my garage we all clean and washed before we moved. They may
have a garage smell because it is true they have been sitting in there for over
a year. Secondly, of course it looks like a "hoarding" situation
because I never unpacked anything and everything is still in the garage right
now. That's the reason I wanted a "professional organizer" to help me
sort through it. I was highly offended that she implied my garage was dirty,
cluttered yes; but not dirty. I also find it very unprofessional for her to
change her price after we started. If she felt that my garage should cost
$100.00 a hour then she should have quoted me that price upfront. It is not my
fault that she didn't fully assess the situation and charge what she later said
the job should cost. As a consumer I should not be held liable for her mistake
or lack of paying full attention to the situation. So not I am stuck paying
$75.00 for something I was told would cost $50.00 a hour for. Also, my 13 year
old son and myself helped do most of the work. Needless to say, I am highly
upset and disappointed and will "NEVER" work with her again. I am
hesitant to seek the help of another professional organizer now because of the
negative experience that I have had working with her. She could have told me
how she felt or what she thought about the situation at any time. I was nice,
respectful, and approachable the entire time. I do not feel that Faith from
Completely Organized acted in a very professional or respectful manner towards
me.
Hello, I look you up on Angie’s List. Are you willing to travel to Stillwater, OK? My parents are 80 and 83 and trying to unbox their lifetime home of 40 years and 218 days! Thank you.

I arrived in Stillwater to a man who looks like my dad but walks like a zombie. Well it nevers hurts to ask. You available this weekend even for a consult? I am not sure of their availability next week; but to give them a plan and let them feel relief. It seems my mom is border line 'hoarder' as dad found 8 cans of pledge....hummmm......also seems she likes coasters, salt and pepper shakers and seasonal plates and napkins! This December they will have been married 58 years!!!

Hi Faith, it took me awhile to drag it out of my parents but they finally let me know how they felt about your services and I wanted to let you know how I felt.
My dad understood that you were going to charge him one way driving time but you charged two hours and at your full rate of $75. I have never heard of a service provider charging a full hourly rate for driving. Even more perplexing you were willing to drive up there and give them an estimate for $75 and credit that amount back if they used your services. Not transparent.
I am certain I mentioned to you about having them buy a package of hours but this was never offered to them. They could have had 4 more hours and paid $25 less? Not transparent.
My mom mentioned that you were pregnant and had lifting limitations; I certainly think this should have been mentioned OR you should have charged a lesser rate but instead you charged the ‘having more stuff to organize than most homes’ rate. Do you work faster and harder while working at a ‘having more stuff to organize than most homes’ house? I have lifting concerns for my parents which was why I went looking for help.
Disappointing and I sincerely believe you took advantage of the situation.

You advertise that you are ‘Professional’. I was in Stillwater Saturday and Sunday and I saw no visible progress; just more piles. Which 3 rooms did you think you finished??!? The bookshelves you arranged were pathetic and not indicative of their lives (Danielle Steele paperback novels and basket full of marbles?!?).
I asked them to rate your service and they gave you a D. My parents are well respected individuals with a deep sense of community; for them to rate your service as a D speaks volumes.
To rectify this situation they should pay for your gas, not drive time, and maybe an hour of ‘organizing’ time.
