Best Irrigation

Best Irrigation (aka OK Sprinkler) was the original installer of my sprinkler system and as such has been coming back each year since the install in 2008 for winterization and service checks. I was emailed by Best Irrigation/OK Sprinkler regarding a rain sensor special for $75 if purchased with the spring startup. Mike Tilley, the foreman, showed up as scheduled to activate my sprinkler system and install the rain sensor. He also installed a small amount of sod in my front yard where our water line had been repaired by a plumbing service. Mike did not complete his work until it was dark, so I did not have a chance to inspect it. He did show me the rain sensor which was installed on the guttering on the back of my house and said that everything was ready to go. When I inquired about the lack of wiring, he indicated that it was a wireless rain sensor. It seemed a bit small for a wireless rain sensor as those typically have a transmitter box with an antenna. However, I took him at his word given that I've used them since 2008. The next morning I wanted to check out the rain sensor in the daylight and immediately discovered an issue - There was no receiver for the wireless rain sensor next to my sprinkler control. Knowing that a transmitter requires a receiver, I knew something was up and began investigating further. As it turns out, what was clamped to my guttering was a wired rain sensor with the sensor ripped out and the cable cut - essentially nothing more than a worthless piece of plastic. I called Mike to ask him what the deal was and he said he would come by and take a look. 3 months later, Best Irrigation/OK Sprinkler will not return my numerous calls and has never come by to rectify the situation. They totally scammed me. When I decided to just buy a wireless rain sensor or wired rain sensor and install it on my own (I'm fairly handy with electronics) I discovered that my model of sprinkler controller does not support any kind of rain sensor. Obviously Mike knew this and just stuck a $2 piece of plastic on my gutter hoping I would not be smart enough to notice. Oh, and a good portion of the sod never turned green despite regular watering, so I had to re-replace the sod on my own.
