In July 2007, we contracted with Black Gold Pools for a Fiberglas pool. We had some permit issues so, the work was started approximately 24 September 2007. The pool was in place during that week and we were told by Bryan Beene that the wrong chlorinator had been delivered and the correct one would be installed the following week, and when he brought the chlorinator he would bring a catalog so we could pick out the coping stone. They did not return as promised and did not call. After several weeks of calling the company to find out when the pool would be finished, the office person finally told us that Bryan asked her to mail us a catalog to pick out the coping stone. Since, it's very difficult to pick something like this out of a catalog, we went to the stone store and bought samples to put around the pool so, we could make an educated choice. We called the office with our selection and were told that we would have to be put on the schedule for the concrete work. After weeks of leaving messages for Bryan to call us, with no success, we decided to e-mail him. Within 2 days after sending an e-mail asking what we had to do to get our pool finished, a crew showed up (unannounced) to put in the coping stone. The next week a crew showed up (unannounced) to do the concrete decking. The crews just showed up unannounced (in one instance, I specifically asked them not to come on Tuesday. I had had foot surgery the week before and my husband would not be home but, they showed up on Tuesday anyway). We told them from the beginning that we needed to know when they were coming so we could make sure our dogs didn't get out of the yard. The contract says that 90% of the pool cost must be paid after the pool is in the ground. Apparently, once Black Gold Pools gets the big money they don't feel it necessary to respond to customers. Their office was called and the response from the office person was that Bryan was out of town and the pool would be finished by the end of next week anyway-approximately 7 weeks after work started. We were told it would be complete within 2 weeks. Their website says 3-12 days. We e-mailed Bryan again and asked him to please contact us by phone to discuss outstanding issues, i.e., damage to our fence, coping stone grouting, the pool cover, and other issues. Because, we complained to the BBB, the managing partner (Scooter Hall) responded to those complaints with lies, demeaning comments, and bullying tactics. It was May 2008 before our pool was finished and it still has stains from debris that was left in it all winter. They have not returned our calls about these stains. Scooter Hall has told people that Bryan is no longer involved in this company but, it appears they have changed the name to Diamond Fiberglas Pools and the company contact e-mail is to Bryan. I would never recommend this company. We love the pool but, would have another company install it.
