We love our new piece, it is exactly what we had hoped for. Ward went out and shopped furniture stores to see what was out there to offer design suggestions. He constructed most of the piece off site and when he came into our house to do the demo I didn't even know he had been there. The site was immaculate each time he left the house, no construction mess to live around and hardly any dust. He worked with precision to design, construct and install our custom built-in armoire with such professional craftsmanship it looks like a beautiful piece of furniture. Our friends and neighbors are amazed.

Construction went fairly quickly. Several items are still outstanding and was advised that if there are issues, to call. Calls made and no response from builder. Several sub-contractors for him contacted me about lack of payment and one individual threatened a lien on my property. To date, the builder has not responded to any calls made to have issues resolved.

Ward Smith has not returned our calls and emails for more than six weeks. During the $46,000 Fall 2008 project, there was a consistent failure to pay attention to detail and we were assured everything would be taken care of. It never was, despite emailing him and handing him a list of our concerns. It looks like we ll have to call in another contractor. We re dealing with a second floor outside door that leaks when it rains, sloppy/incomplete plaster work, incomplete paint job inside and out, extensive paint on windows, concrete foundation questions and a feeling we may be seeing just the tip of the iceberg. We have photographed everything to have a record and would be willing to share the photos so you can judge for yourself.

The job itself is good quality. We did have several problems with the contractor himself. We had problems with him being dishonest with us. He tried to charge us for $1400 of services that were not performed. We had to remind him of the fact that he got smaller windows than what was presented on the contract. He did get the proper windows, but we were surprised that he had missed that. The job also took 2 weeks longer than it should have. He left a lot of sawdust in the yard and nails strewn about in the yard as well.

Ward did a wonderful job and I am so pleased with the work that he did. He gave me an estimate fast and got all the work completed in a timely manner. Thoroughly cleaned up all of the mess and made sure everything was satisfactory.

Project started on Monday after Thanksgiving and did all the demolition in one week. Had custom cabinets installed a month later and came back and hung the island vent a hood. Recommended a great plumber, painter and electrician.
