I I have given this review to Angies List before but as they are asking for another, I will repeat it. How'd It Go?? Terrible?!!
This man spent more time on the phone and smoking than actually working. Tiles have not stayed secure. Several have fallen off the counter top and cracked/split tiles on the floor. Did not apply mortar correctly to the floor tiles as they were not solid and had air pockets, therefore broke. One tile was upside down (obvious), left open hole behind stool, reinstalled old rusty ring around service pipe, grout too dry, began cracking almost immediately. He did come back out and attempted to repair obvious issues but, overall, still very poor and unsatisfactory job.
The price seemed fair at the time. We had purchased all materials, tiles, plumbing fixtures, vents, thin set, grout etc.
However the quality of the work was poor.
wood work was dented, shower tiles spaced anywhere from 1/4and quot; to over 1 inch apart ,floor tiles not level with one another, floor tiles not on solid subfloor, shower leaked behind wall (had to hire plumber to repair), roof leaked after vent/heater/light installation (had to hire a roofer to repair), toilet, which we purchased, had 12and quot; roughin. we didn't realize the actual rough in was 10and quot;. Mr. Rhein installed the toilet so the tank leaned forward because there was not room for a 12and quot;. He should have suggested an extender or that we buy a 10and quot; roughin toilet. We discovered the problem and WE removed and returned toilet and WE replaced with the proper toilet.
When we first notified Mr. Rhein that we had chosen him to work for us, it took him two weeks after he had given an estimate to call us. At that time we were looking at hiring someone else., We gave him the benefit of the doubt and he and his assistant showed up everyday promptly for two weeks and worked steadily for about 4 1/2 to 5 hours a day. We had a scheduled trip, so it was agreed by both parties that Mr. Rhein would resume work 2 or 3 days after we returned. We called and left messages twice to to let him know we had returned. He responded two weeks later to let us know that he was ready to come back and finish the job. At that time we told him we didn't want him to return. We hired someone to finish the tile work. The new shower door Mr. Rhein installed was not anchored to the wall. We hired someone to install it correctly. We hired a plumber and a roofer to correct his mistakes. The new door he intalled did not hang plumb and WE spent some time getting it adjusted until it was acceptable. WE did 90% of the work preparing the walls ..
When removing the tile they used tools to pound and break the tiles off of the floor and wall. There was no attempt to prevent the large amounts of dust from entering the rest of the house. We closed the bathroom door and opened the bathroom window while they worked,
There had been no attempt to protect the tub, ceramic pieces and grime were ground into the tub, dulling the tub surface. etc.etc.etc.
