Stellar Construction

Description of Work: We were looking for someone to build our patio deck and called Stellar construction. Gerald came out and talked with us and said he would get back to us with a bid. While he was at our house, he mentioned that Stellar also performed exterior painting. So, we also asked for a quote on some exterior painting work that we neede to complete, thinking that starting with a small project would be good to try out the company's work ethic, professionalism, etc. Gerald gave us a bid that was competitive with several other companies we called. Though a little higher than some, we wanted to work with Stellar to get the larger project of the deck also under contract with their company. Gerald was responsive and communicative and sent someone out to start the exterior painting work once we signed the contract. The one guy he sent spent about 6 hours in one day working very hard with a power washer to prep the exterior paint work. He didn't get very far, and Gerald decided to subcontract it to Hector, a painted with Sherman Williams. Hector worked for about 3 hours for 4-5 days. We also purchased the highest quality Sherman Williams paint, which cost us about $900. Hector started off good, preping the surface well, scraping and sanding where required. However, as he moved around the house, he stopped doing any prep work and just airbrushed on new paint. The finish was poor, with flaking areas that could be removed with the touch of a fingernail, obvious finishes flaws and poor prep work. We pointed out our concerns to Gerald with Stellar and he agreed that the work was shoddy and he would "make it right." We also made a good faith payment to Hector of $500. Additionally, there was some trim work that was required and included in the contract. Long story short. Gerald stopped returning our calls, we paid $1400 and are left with a house that has exposed wood and trim that is half painted, none of it very well, and we will have to find another contractor to finish the work. We are extremely disappointed
