I recently purchased a water heater from Home Depot and was told the install was around 250 to 300 dollars. I figured it was high, but not having the skill set or time to invest in the process of installing it myself I made the decision to have them install it. They contracted with OLSHAM, the install work was good, but they charged me over 600 dollars more than the initial price I agreed to. They stated that I was out of code and it was necessary to bring the install up to code.
They charged me the following:
Basic install 800.00
Permit 29.00
? 10.00
Code Requirements: Actual Cost
Pan 79.0 24.00
Pan Pipe 11.25 3.00
Gas Flex 72. 00 24.00
Sed Trap 69.00 8.00
¾” Ball Valve 72.00 13.00
¾” fla 72.00 13.00
Water Hame 99.00 I could not determine what this charge was.
Oversize Tank 149.25 (Supposedly my old water heater was a 65 gallon and they decided to charge me an oversized tank charge)
