This started off as an awesome experience.  The owner was wonderful in helping us figure out what we wanted to do, which involved a lot of time before they ever got paid for anything.  She took us around to shops, suggested ideas, and was patient when we chucked out one kitchen scheme in favor of something entirely different.  The design of both the kitchen and bathroom are wonderful, and we'd never have gotten there without the extra help that this full-service company provided.  The details really do make the overall project just fantastic.  Their tile contractors deserve a special shout-out.  Truly beautiful work.
Another great part of this project was their willingness to adjust with changing decisions and to modify the plan if something didn't look right.  There were several re-paints when the first color wasn't quite right, and some moving of towel bars and light strips that were done without our even having to ask.  They also re-ordered some cabinet doors when the first once were warped and didn't hang straight.
This project wasn't cheap, but we mostly felt that we were getting what we paid for in terms of design assistance and additional service.  It also wasn't fast.  There were some weather issues, holidays, and perpetual problems with contractor's childcare.  The work took 6 months, and much of that time we were without a functioning kitchen.  But they generally responded to email so we would know what was happening, which I appreciated.
Here's where things have gone bad.  The bamboo flooring began coming up in several areas of the house after only a month or so.  Urban Kitchens has been slow to address this problem - they were first notified on April 30 -  and so far all we have is big holes cut out of the floor to test the glue and some tests that they said would determine whether the cause was the wet spring.  Now we've heard nothing for months.   I was hopeful things would be resolved, but it seems like they have just decided to ignore us.
If things change, I'll update the review.  But for now, I'd advise caution.

From the moment I met company owner Jo, I knew I was in good hands. She was able to work within my smallish budget and still provide a quality product that fit my vision. I knew pretty well what I wanted and she helped fulfill that vision, providing guidance and advice when I was lost or indecisive.
Adam, the lead contractor, was professional and highly responsive. He almost always returned my calls or text messages within 30 minutes, and usually a lot faster than that. He treated my old house with respect, and handled curveballs like replacing a crazy soffit without batting an eyelash. And the few times (they were VERY few) that I had a question or concern about something, he always said, "we'll fix it" or "we can do that", and he was true to his word.  Head painter Luis was a dream, and a perfectionist. And all the contractors were good about cleaning up and leaving the place tidy at the end of every work day.
The project took about 10 weeks, but that included 3 holidays, a week of delays because various contractors or delivery guys had the flu, and a week waiting for a replacement drawer front because I changed my mind. I did pick the busy season when a lot of people were trying to get their kitchens remodeled before the holidays, but I knew that going in.
All in all, it was a great experience, and I'll probably be calling them again in a couple of years to do the bathrooms. Thank you, Urban Kitchens!

"Thank you [member name removed] for such a nice review. I love it when the customer and I are a perfect fit and that is what happened with Lisa and me. I appreciate it when a customer has a budget and allows us to design what they want that will fit! Like Lisa stated, the project was long but holidays and sickness upset our schedule! Adam kept in touch and let her know what was happening and she was so great about the delays. Thanks again! Jo Meacham, designer/owner"

. We began the project about one year prior to the actual installation. We ordered cabinets and installation of the cabinets. We had problems with installation, and went through more than one installer ( a couple of the installers did not know how to install cabinets). Had problems with the measurements, and had to reorder more than once. Owner of Urban Kitchens was frustrated at end, and did not really want to finish up the job properly. We are a good distance out of OKC, so that might have been the problem. As a result, we have many ongoing issues with the installation of the cabinets.. doors and drawers not really working properly. Also, two of the company's subcontractors were extremely difficult to work with. In the long run, the cabinets should have been custom done.

Possibly the problem with installers has been rectified, and they now have someone who can finish the job in a timely and professional manner.

They were very professional and prompt and have high quality standards. unfortunately, the designer I was working with left the week they started my project, which created a few problems. (I wasn't all that pleased with her anyway.) Also, the electrician on the project became ill after almost completing the job, so there were some punch list things that were delayed. The only real problem I had was that they are used to working with people with larger budgets, and that caused a mismatch on things like materials. And there were some things they didn't consult me about -- I wouldn't have put 900 watts of under-cabinet lighting in, for example, no matter how nice it looked. (Now I'm waiting for them to invent compatible LEDs so I can use those beautiful lights.) So the customer interaction had some glitches, but the quality of the work was excellent.

Went well. It took a week longer than the estimate but that was caused in part by us making decisions and tardiness of delivery of the pressed-tin for the ceiling.

The work is 99.99% complete. I'm just waiting for a replacement door, and then the work would be complete. I had to pay for some lost stuff out-of-pocket. The work was done very fast. They did it in about six weeks except for one cabinet door. They are very nice people. All the people who work for them are very nice and very professional. They do quality work.
Response from Urban Kitchens
"We enjoyed designing and building this kitchen/laundry. We knew they wanted to complete a kitchen remodel in a timely manner and Urban Kitchens made this a priority. Our Project Supervisor kept in constant contact with everyone involved in the project and made sure they were there on time and had the materials required for the project. It was quite a transformation and we hope they are enjoying cooking and living in their new kitchen."

We are very satisfied. They were quite good on following up with any issues that we had. We had a couple issues initially, but they followed up and corrected them, which is all you can ask for these days. They coordinated some subcontractors that they contracted with, that we didn't contract with directly. The subcontractors they had were very good and did an excellent job tiling the floor and fitting the granite countertops. There was a little glitch on one of the countertops, but they came right out as soon as we pointed it out. As I said, that was the follow up that I was very pleased with. I would use them again, but I hope I don't have to remodel another kitchen.

"We appreciate all comments! Remodeling is never easy but we pride ourselves on working to get every detail perfect. Sometimes this means a "do over" - but if this is required we do it as quickly as possible."

Everything turned out really nice and it was actually really affordable. They helped us choose the right style doors, pulls, etc to create the look we wanted. They also did a good job of keeping everything within our budget. We get compliments on the kitchen all the time. My only complaint would be regarding a couple of very minor things that they weren't finished up as soon as we would have hoped after the major work was done. Overall, I would definitely recommend them to a friend.
Response from Urban Kitchens
"What a great project! We love historic houses and have a wide range of cabinets and cabinet prices so we can make almost anyone happy. We never like it when additional items or loose ends take so much time. Urban Kitchens is always working on ways to improve our service. Thanks for the good words!"

They brought in a team with an interior designer and a construction expert. We were just going to do a countertop and they came back with a whole kitchen. It made sense because we have an old kitchen. They did an excellent job. All the contractors did an outstanding job.
Response from Urban Kitchens
"This project amount should be $22,000.00. We wish we could do kitchens for $2,200.00!. Great family, great project!"

My wife decided that we needed to up date our kitchen since it was done in the sixty era.Urban Kitchen worked close with us while the work was being done. Answered all my questions and payed close attention to detail. They removed all our countertops and redid our cabinets. replace our old tops with granite. When the job was done they clean up all the trash and dust and left our home the way they found it.
