Mike was very responsive and returned calls promptly. He was very courteous and professional. He called about 1 1/2 hours prior to our scheduled appointment and asked if he could meet us early so he could get us taken care of before the rain came in, otherwise he was afraid we'd have to reschedule for the following week. He showed up when he said he would and got us taken care before the rain showed up. We were very pleased with his work and his service. We will definitely call him again in the future.

I have just moved into a new condo that has a fireplace.  Last night we started a fire and I went outside to look at the smoke from the chimney and I realized that small branches from our tree were touching the chimney pot and I quickly doused the fire in the fireplace.  Knowing that I had to have the tree trimmed, I also realized that I should have the fireplace inspected.  I found Top Hat on AL.  I called them and spoke to the owner, Mike,1st he said that he couldn't get to me until after Christmas, then he asked for my address,  he said he was about 15 minutes away and had enough time to come now.  He arrived in 15 minutes, he inspected the inside and outside of the chimney.  While he was on the roof he said that the branches were definitely a problem and asked if I had any big clippers, I do have big clippers and gave them to him.  Mike trimmed all of the branches around the pot that will allow us to have fires for the next couple of months until a tree trimmer can get here. Excellent service and cost ($45.00).

Very professional. Price was right and there were no surprises. I will use Top Hat Chimney again next winter.

They did a great job. He did find a couple of issues that I will need to look at in a couple of years. Some of the brick is starting to crumble. He has given me quote for the ones that need to be replaced. The chimney sweep was great. I appreciated his honesty. He left the chimney and the hearth cleaner than when he got there. I would use him again.

He arrived on time and completed the job in a very professional manner. (AND, this was on a Sunday afternoon!) I was very pleased with his work and the price.

I'd had two other chimney companies out. The first was a and quot;home servicesand quot; company that does everything from mowing lawns, to pest control and chimneys. They told me that there was a substantial crack in my crown and that the firebox NEEDED to be rebuilt. Their quote was in excess of 1100.00. I called a second company that lists chimney and masonry services. They said the crown crack was not an issue and that the firebox rebuild would be around 750.00.
I contacted Mike at Top Hat and he was able to drop by while in the neighborhood. He wouldn't let me tell him what anyone else had said, went straight to work, inspected everything, gave my fireplace and chimney a clean safety review and then asked what others had said. I told him and he double checked the firebox and told me that he COULD rebuild it if I wanted to, but that it was not necessary. His fee for doing the rebuild was below the others, 650.00. He reassured me that the firebox was tight and secure and not in need of service and that the crack on the crown was neither substantial nor an urgent repair. He wanted to only charge me for a service call but I paid him more because he had done such great work and was honest with me. When the time comes for the repairs to be made, I will be calling Top Hat again. What a great business!!

Mike arrived at the specified time, asked about our chimney needs and concerns, and went right to work. He made sure we understood the time frame in regard to his lunch time, purchase of a part, and return to the job. I greatly appreciated this, as I did not have to spend the whole afternoon waiting on him. He is very professional. He made me aware of what he was going to do, what the charge would be, and if the service was needed now or could be done at a later date. Mike's charges were more than fair for the work done. He took care to leave the work area clean. I would recommend Top Hat, and use him again.

They did it as described. They did a good job and came out and did exactly what they said they were going to do. I used them because they were referred by a business that does fireplace stuff. They were on time, responsive and easy to get hold of.
