First off, I am not one of those "binary" raters where most people give either a "5" or a "1" star review, so me giving Starry Solar a 5-star rating is legit. First off, mine was the first of it's kind in Oklahoma. It uses Generac batteries as a back-up, so if we lose grid power, the system automatically takes the house off the grid and we run on battery on an "island." Originally, I was told by Starry that the whole house could be run off of the battery. After they started installation (remember, the first of its kind in Oklahoma), Luke found out that the Generac system only supported up to 50 Amps. So Luke had to pay extra to the electrician to add a new panel that supported only critical electricity to the house that was limited to 50A total. That meant no HVAC or hot water. Not only did Luke make it right through paying extra for the electrician, they also knocked off $5,000 of the total price. I had the system installed in August of 2020, but it took quite a while for OGE to come out and set up "net metering" so the electricity I was generating above what I was using would be credited to my bill each month. So be prepared to wait for that, but that's on OGE and not Starry Solar. The first full month of net metering happened to be in February of 2021, of which we had insanely cold temps. While my neighbors did lose power a few times during that cold spelled, we never noticed the power going out. The heater had a hard time keeping the house warm, and due to the constant clouds, ice and snow, I didn't generate much solar power. So I wanted to wait until more normal weather came around before I submitted my review. Now that I have had 2 full months of "regular" weather, I can say that both months total bill was under $15. Yes, under $15 a month to power a total electric 2100 square foot home! Now the real kicker: Luke just informed me that Generac has upgraded their inverters where they will accept a transfer switch instead of the protected panel. So now my whole home will have power when I am generating my own electricity and not just the critical power needs! Luke bought the inverter and is giving it to me for free - all I have to do is pay the electrician. The service I have gotten from the entire team at Starry Solar has been above and beyond any service-related company I have ever gotten. I am one, extremely happy customer and highly recommend the Starry Solar team. And I am also happy to discuss my experience with Luke and the team, so if you want to talk to me about it, I've told Luke to provide you my number.
