"All of us at Southwest Builders enjoyed working with you on another project! Thanks so much for choosing us to do your work."
"Thank you for your kind review. It is always a pleasure to work with such nice people."
"Thank you for your kind review. We will be starting this job this week, as we were delayed with OG&E having to relocate the gas meter, gas lines, etc. and the relocation of the sprinkler lines. Footings and concrete will be poured this week, weather permitting, and the sunroom should be finished by next week."
We did ask them to come out again in the spring of 2015 for a quote on a potential garage addition. Told the same salesman about the outlet and the drive while he was there and he said he would look into it. We didn't end up doing the garage addition and I have never heard back from him. The salesman was always good to show up quickly when it was time to collect another payment, but not so speedy when you needed something. He seemed to have an attitude at times with me as a customer. Maybe it was just a simple conflict of personalities as the owner who came out and met with my wife really impressed her.
Over all we would use them again for their quality of work, but only if we could get the other two issues fixed and deal with a different salesman.
"I am guessing that the outside outlet may need to be reset. Outside outlets are GFI (ground fault interrupter) circuits and need to be reset each time it rains in some cases, as they are highly sensitive to moisture, humidity, sprinklers, etc. If this is not the case, we can still have an electrician replace the outlet if the customer will call our office and ask for a service call. That way, the request will get to the right people immediately. As for the concrete issue, there is a lot of misunderstanding about the nature of concrete. Most concrete cracks at some stage in its' life, some sooner and some later. There have been many articles written and available that discuss the fact that cracks in concrete are the fault of movement of the soil underneath the concrete, and not the concrete itself. We have been doing custom concrete for 40 years and always use the more expensive rebar, rather than wire mesh that others use, so that the cracking can be controlled to hairline cracks. The purpose of the rebar is hold the concrete together when it cracks, so that it does not vertical displace. Nothing that I know of can prevent concrete from cracking. Over the years, I have discussed this with many engineers including those that work for the major concrete companies. They all tell me the same thing: that no one can guarantee whether or when concrete will crack in any given application."
They were a little slow to get going, but the end result was acceptable.
"Thank you for your review. This project was done in summer months, which is our busiest season. Once started, the sunroom addition, including concrete, was completed in about 3 weeks."
"We regret that this customer waited longer than expected. We try to be very straight forward about lead times on materials and our varying backlogs during peak seasons, but sometimes there are misunderstandings. The crew that installed this sunroom has worked for us over 30 years, and we feel the quality work they perform is worth waiting for. It would be easy to hire another crew during peak times, but our approach for 40 years has been that doing the job right is preferable to doing the job fast. That is why at least 40% of our business comes from referrals and repeat customers. To address the electrical issue, our construction agreement called for a certain number of outlets, etc. tied into the existing breaker box, which we did. Sometimes it is necessary for the homeowner to contact their own electrician to upgrade that service if it is inadequate in any way to carry any additional amperage load. We still find many homes inadequate service boxes installed before the advent of all of the modern appliances we have all come to expect and enjoy."
"As most people are aware, outside concrete can, and very often will, rise or fall depending on changes in weather and varying soil conditions. Many of this customer's neighbors are experiencing the same thing with concrete on the front of their homes and their sidewalks. It is due to the nature of the soil itself. When weather is dry, soil shrinks, and it expands again with moisture and/or freezing conditions. As always, we put steel rebar down before pouring this concrete. We did not dowel it to the adjoining driveway, as that would assure that it would crack at the dowels. The other concrete we poured for this client is fine, so I assume the developer used more fill dirt, or some other condition occurred, at the front property line of these homes. We did offer to remove the piece of concrete in question at our expense, if the customer so desired. I also sent the customer copies of articles/information from our local paper and national home builder performance quidelines showing that this condition is absolutely normal."
"Thank you for your review and for being a repeat customer."
"Thank you for your review. We don't claim to be perfect, but we always do what we say we'll do, and that has kept us in the business for almost 40 years."
We got a surprise after the job started that our electrical service could not be expanded and had to get a new breaker box installed which was an additional cost not planned on.
I would rate the quality of work at a B, not all aspects of the job got the same attention to detail as others.
Clean up at the end of the job was poor and had to get them to come back and reclean even after I spent several hours cleaning.
The construction manager Luke was always professional and got things done.
We love our new sunroom and would recommend SW Builders to anyone that wants to build a good sunroom not just a kit like others offer.
"This claim is totally without merit and I have asked Angie's List to remove it. We never did any work for (deleted member name). Angie's list has been made aware of this fact, and is considering whether this review should be removed. We feel that we have obligations to our customers and the public to be accurate and truthful in all of our dealings, and we believe Angle's List has the same obligation to make sure that all information contained on their website is truthful, or to remove it once it has been proven that it is not. Nothing about this review is true or accurate in any way. We did install a patio cover for (deleted member name)'s mother at a different address, on a home that was built in 1960's. The work was done for her mother in 2010, not 2012 as stated in the review, at a cost of $13K, not 17K, as stated in the review by (deleted member name). Her mother's insurance company tried to pay her $5K for a claim on a damaged patio cover that was built by someone else years ago. We talked to the insurance company on the mother's behalf, and they ended up paying her $13K to get her a much better cover than the one she had. The new cover did not "bust up," but rather was hit by a major hail storm very soon after it was built by us. Many of the homeowners in the mother's neighborhood sustained $30-40K in damages to their homes and cars from this storm and, yes, this cover was damaged by the hail soon after it was installed. However, this was an act of God, covered by insurance, and had nothing to do with the quality of the materials or installation. The mother was given a quotation to replace the acrylic domed skylites in the cover and elected not to have the work done because she didn't want to raise her insurance rates or be cancelled for turning in another claim. I honestly don't know how we could have been anymore accommodating to our customer who, again, was not (deleted member name)."
The installer called the day before coming out to confirm the appointment. He and his assistant showed up on time, they were very courteous and professional, and they did a great job. I am very happy with the quality of the materials and the workmanship.
"We installed a patio cover which dripped at the point of attachment. It was determined that their house roof was the source of the leaks in question, and they had a roofing company re-roof the entire house and flash the patio cover as the result of the new roof being installed. This was not a problem that our patio cover caused. The Better Business Bureau closed their file on this complaint in 2008, saying "You have make a good faith effort to resolve this issue.""
