Cookie (dog) had bad places from scratching took her to South Side Pet Clinic, pretty busy as it was Saturday but not exceptionally long wait. Doc weighed her, checked her over, clipped nails, injection for allergies and meds for infection price was reasonable and given senior discount. on charges. We have another dog and Southside Dog Cat and Bird Clinic have been taking care of both for over 11 years. Very Satisfied.

Last night around 7pm our long-haired Chihuahua was attacked by two much larger dogs that had been allowed to roam off leash in our Edmond neighborhood. The attack was pretty vicious and our dog went into shock immediately.
We were forced to take our hurt dog to an after hours vet hospital and choose Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Hospital (VECCH). What a mistake (see our review of them). They tried to strong arm us into a $1,000 overnight stay and a $3,000 surgery.
Having no other option we left our dog until first thing in the morning (over $600 later). At 8am we showed up to check our dog out and take him to our regular vet - Southside Dog Cat and Bird Clinic (SDCBC).
SDCBC was great, as always. They got our dog in a soon as possible and evaluated him. They saw no need for additional testing or xrays and determined a hospital stay nor surgery were necessary. They confirmed our dog had suffered multiple rib fractures, an internal hole that was causing air to leak and deposit under the skin and some other minor issues.
They suggested we keep a stiff wrap on our dog and give him plenty of rest and some pain meds. They also removed the IV that VECCH had placed on him and said that unless he stopped eating or drinking, he didn't need it.
The total charge was only $77 and saved us over $3,000 had we gone with VECCH's treatment plan.
I cannot say enough good things about SDCBC. Its walk-in and they do not ever try to make you feel like you need to do unnecessary things to your pet just so they can charge you more money.
Sure, its in south OKC and we live in Edmond, and the place is older and smells a little funky - but the care, compassion and price is so worth it in the end.
Next time we need after hours care though, we will go to Neel Veterinary Hospital and not VECCH!

My dog is doing great. The vet said I could bring her in anytime for a free recheck if I had any problems.

It went fine, actually I have been there many times, most of the appointments have been really good, but this last one wasn't so great. I think there good for overall veterinarian care and they have a great price.

They were recommended because they have good prices on spading and neutering. They don't charge an arm and a leg on things and don't try to get you to do unnecessary things. I like them because you don't have to make an appointment, you can just walk in. They are professional, but yet don't over do on stuff.

Their service has always been great and I have found the front help and vets very friendly and helpful. During peak office times they are very busy, but other times of the day the wait time isn't so bad. Saturday afternoon or early afternoons are good times to go. I am very appreciative to all of their vets and the great care that they have given to my animals, who are family members.

Overall this vet clinic does what is expected - they see your pet, run tests, prescribe medications and/or treatments and do it at a fair to low price and convenient hours. The down side though is that the place is old, smells bad, they don't take appointments so you often have to wait from 40 minutes to a couple of hours, the front desk staff can often be overwhelmed and rude, and they rarely answer their phones.
