We had to have a gas valve replaced on our hot water heater. It took the technician about 10 minutes to do the replacement and the total came to $573.00. My husband found that a bit expensive for such a quick call so looked up the price of the replacement part. We found it in a number of places for $200 or less, so we were charged $373.00 plus parts for a 10 minute job. I would not reccommend this company and regret using it.

WE had used this company prior and had a fair experience, so we called again when a pipe burst between the slab and wall. We requested the same salesman, who came and assessed the damages. He wanted to call a leak locater but had an appointment so he had a colleague come meet the leak locator. When Robert returned he stated the locater and co-worker had not done what he asked so he walked from the job, leaving the coworker to make the repairs. It was thanksgiving and they said they would return the following monday to start. We put my father in the hospital for cancer the day after thanksgiving. On monday they arrived and corralled my mother into signing a contract without allowing me to review the agreement. One of my original stipulations was to have a manifold added during the replumbing of our home Both Robert and the Coworker agreed and understood. When the job was completed, my mother paid the balance due in full, received a paid in full letter and, then, I discovered there was no manifold. I went to the manager, (found out later he was the owner) told him my dilemma, and he said he would check into it and call me back. Next day he calls and tell me they undercharged me and if i would pay the balance, that we owed, they would come put in a manifold. Funny, the balance we were given was about the cost of a manifold and a little labor. They never completed the agreement, sent bills to my mother for over a year demanding payment for this mysterious balance and we still have an incomplete job... I feel they took advantage of my mother's ignorance in plumbing, during a vulnerable time with dad in the hospital. Horrible, dishonest, shady.. experience. I would never use this company again. **Also, the Manager/Owner explained to me that these guys have a minimum price they have to charge and anything they can add above and beyond that is bonus for the salesman/installer. Basically they can jack the price to anything they want so long as you will pay

Have been a customer of Mr. Comfort, was ARS, for several years. Have purchased heating, and air units, and water heaters from them for our houses. The Maintenance plan they offer is outstanding, with a spring and fall tune-up, changing filters as needed, the units work efficiently. Very professional, friendly, efficient, knowledgeable technicians and staff. They always go the extra mile and provide exceptional customer service. Roger and Michael are absolutely the best.

..The work was performed on a rent house. The renters had stop up toilet and call Roto Rooter.. They cleaned the sewer and told the renters that there were alot of roots in the sewer. Ten days or so later the renters called Roto Rooter again because of the same problem. They came out and said the line was collapsed.

The renters contacted us and we ask Mr. Comfort to check it out. They informed me they would have to use the camera to run the lines and see what was going on. They quoted a price of $350 but charged $365. Jim Maynard call back after getting the camera results and talked for 20-30 minutes telling all about what the picture showed and didn't show. Then he told me it would be 10 thousand to 12 thousand dollars to fix it. I ask for a copy of the pictures. He would give me a copy or let me see them in his office.

I called another plumber, Rays Sewer Service. They charged $165, cleaned out the sewer and said there was no collapse.
Response from Mr Comfort
"On Tuesday 12/27/2011 Mr. Comfort sent a plumber to this address to check a clogged drain at a rental property for the member. We were unable to clear the line properly, and set a time for the next day to run a camera through the line and diagnose the issues. On Wednesday 12/28/2012 our service man ran the camera from the roof (No clean out on property) and found the line holding water around 6 ft from the house. During the inspection he also found the line to be deteriorating and had several bellies (low places) restricting the line from draining properly. A quote was given to replace the sewer line approx 120 Ft long and partially under a driveway for $10,000.00 to $12,000.00 and the member was sent a bill for $365.00 for the two visits to her rental property and for the camera inspection of the line. After receiving the bill Mrs. Geis contacted Mr. Comfort about the pictures or video and the bill. The member was given a credit for $184.00 off the bill , and there is a remaining balance of $181.00 that is still unpaid as of today 02/08/2012. It was also explained to her that our sewer inspection video does not record or take pictures. It is a live video on a screen only and she would need to meet our technician at the rental property to go over what he is showing her on the screen while he explains step by step the issues and the proper procedures to do the needed repairs. Our goal is to be fair and honest in all of our transactions...we would be happy to meet the member with the camera and allow her to see the line and explain the issues as we show them to her on the screen. It is possible to clear her line, but it is only a temporary fix to the issue and her sewer line will have to be replaced in the near future . As she stated to us that she had other companies clear the line but it was only temporary. That is why she contacted us in December, because another company had been out and informed her that the line was collapsed and needed to be replaced. We have been unable to reach the member in an effort to discuss this issue. We would be happy to meet her with the camera and show and explain our finding. Thank You"

There were actually two service calls involved, both to rental properties. At the first property, the drain near the washer had backed up onto the laundry room floor. The plumber, Aaron, determined that there was no leak under the washing machine as previously thought. We speculated that some potato peelings from the kitchen disposal had temporarily blocked the drain. He checked the clean out in the back yard to make sure the pipes were free of any blockage. He gave me the option of snaking the line, but since the drain was working now, I chose not to snake at this time. He also tightened the handle of the faucet at the kitchen sink. The tenant has not had any more drain backup. Cost was just the service call of $79.

At the second house, the water had stopped working at the kitchen sink. Aaron determined that the faucet needed to be replaced. He removed the old faucet while I ran to Lowes (two blocks away) and bought a new faucet. He installed it quickly and efficiently. He double checked under the sink before he left, finding a small drip. He tightened everything he had worked on. If he had not double-checked, the pipes would have dripped and I would have had to call him back. I think the double-check was the mark of a true professional. Cost of installation was $181 and the service call charge was waived because work was performed.

One other comment: The company, Mr. Comfort, booked these appointments back-to-back, so I could follow Aaron over to the second house when the first property was completed. I REALLY appreciated this, as I could get back to my own work and not have to take off at two separate times. This respect for my time puts this company way ahead in my book.

We've been very pleased with their service. They recently identified that we have a serious corrosion problem with some of our underground cast iron sewer pipes and they will be replacing the pipes for us as soon as we locate a good general contractor. The technicians are all really good guys. We like them a lot. We have no doubt that they genuinely care about their customers.

They are always very good. They give you a window of when they will be coming out and call you before they get there. I have been happy with their work, and are respectful around my home when they come and their pricing I think is fair, they can tell you exactly what it will cost before they start the work and if they cant they will find out for you.

Kevin, the serviceman, at first thought the air conditioner was low on puron. He added puron only to discover that the "A" coils had frozen up. He thought maybe he had added too much puron, so drained some out. That didn't work, so he replaced the blower motor at a cost of $405.00. The unit still didn't cool properly, so he said he would come back in a few days and check it again. He did come back a few days later and spent all afternoon trying to find out why it wasn't cooling. He couldn't locate the problem, so said he would come back the next afternoon and check further. He did come back about 2:00 PM and worked until dark. He finally replaced the "TXU" valve, whatever that is, at a cost of $549. The unit now cools better, but not perfectly. I can get at best a 12 degree differential between the temperature of the air at the duct and the air at the return duct - there should be a 20 degree difference. I called ARS to complain about the high cost, and the fact that the invoices did not detail the price for material or labor. I felt that I had been charged for all the labor hours spent learning how to fix the problem, and that I shouldn't have to pay for the learning time. The company representative, Barbara, told me they use a "Flat Rate" chart, and that the cost of replacing the TXU was standard at $549.00.

When the guy came from ARS, I told him my toilet was clogged and even backed up into my bathtub. He ran a snake into the pipeline in my yard, couldn't unclog it and told me the pipes were probably collapsed. He said it would take thousands of dollars to replace. I told him I was pretty sure the clog was inside the house but he refused to even snake in the direction of the house. He still charged me a service fee. Later that day, I called another plumber and they unclogged the pipe(inside the house) in a few minutes and charged me only $100 for everything. I called ARS to get my money back and they refused. They also told me I should have paid more because he actually ran the snake through my pipes.

Roger Osborne was my primary contact. He was most the knowledgeable representative to give an estimate. He got it right the first time and was only representative to know his product well enough to correctly specify the system and answer questions without having to get direction from his home office. He gave excellent service from estimation through installation, did not pester with follow-up calls but was responsive to my repeated calls as I asked additional questions to narrow my selection. The final ARS price was 31% less than the highest of 4 estimates I received and 9% less than the closest competitor for comparable equipment (apples to apples). I carefully researched companies before getting estimates and matched each company's age, number of employees, product lines and reputation as closely as possible. Installation was done in one day. Crew was courteous, clean and professional. One competitor wanted 4 weeks before installation. ARS did it 2 work days after getting approval.

They actually did not do any work at all. All they did was come to our home and tell us we needed our shower pan replaced and they would not unclog the drain. They still charged us $50. I was not impressed with them at all.
