Home Depot - NW Oklahoma City

The contractor's they sent came out and worked on a Sunday night, which I thought was kind of strange. I went back to Home Depot and they said if I had a problem with my job that I should've called them. 

It wasn't their fault. I didn't realize I could come back to them. They didn't really say to much about it. They did give me a list of people right away. Two of the three people called me back. 

Under this circumstance, the experience didn't work out very well for my needs. They are one of the few people that you can go to the "pro desk" and they put you in contact with contractors. In hind sight, we probably should've went with Angie's List. We went to them again to get a painter who was excellent.

There are no details.  I just went by there to buy some flowers to plant outside.  They usually have a fairly good variety and somewhat reasonable prices.

As a matter of fact, within the last four years we probably spent $30000 with Home Depot. With members who do a lot of business with them, they give 10% discount. Their prices are competitive. I like the friendliness of the people there as well as their honesty. I like the selection and the quality. They're open until 11 o'clock every night except Sunday and they close at 8. They're convenient. I would use them in the future.

My experience with Home Depot at NW Oklahoma City has been a little crazy. I think some of it has to do with the tornadoes we're having down here. It hasn't been very easy. When they were installing the floor, I had to tell them to scrap down the concrete under it better before they put in the floor. Other than that, they're great. They had a special on for $550.00 for the installation, so the price was good.

Waited till just after 10 on the 12th. No one had showed. Figured I may have made a grave error in judgement! Called back and got the same customer service rep (Tonia), I had spoken to on Friday night. She was very apologetic, got the dispatcher to check, and the plumbers had been held up on an earler job and forgotten to call in to alert them. I get a $50 Home Depot card for being polite, but firm about needing to let the customer know. By the way, the plumbing contractor for Home Depot is Olshan.
I get a call around 11 AM. The plumbers are picking up my water heater at the Home Depot. They arrive about 15 minutes later.
I am impressed! This is a two man crew! As one starts the paperwork, the other starts the
tear down and draining of the old tank. All in all, Mike and Kerry are clean, friendly, and efficient. In and out in under and hour. Way better than my neighbor across the street did with a nationally known plumbing company that was at his house for over 4 hours doing the exact same repair and charging him an arm and leg more than I paid!!!
Very pleased the Home Depot came through with another great product and a great contractor (Olshan Plumbing) to do the install all at a price that beat the competition hands down. Also got a great warranty.

They do a fine job. They can't do everything - that was the only frustrating part. I had to hire an electrician for part of the work. They did a good job with the tile. The only complaint I do have is that you have to pay $30 for them to measure things, even though you can measure yourself. The guy never lifts a tape measure and all he does is with his computer. He way over estimates everything. The guy who laid the tile said that they don't know what they are doing. So, I thought that was annoying because we have to pay $30 for that each time.

The dishwasher alone was supposed to be $500, but they gave me a good price. The total cost included a kit for installation, all the labor, and delivery. It only took about 30 minutes for them to complete the installation.

It was a complete disaster. It took over a year for the project to get done. They made promises they couldn't keep. They lied about everything. They kept changing people and plans. We met with the manager which made things better for a week. They kept ordering the wrong parts. The trim they had to reorder four times. They didn't show up or call several times. The price was different than what they said. The contractors were great, but we won't buy a screw from them. It just got done two months ago and we started working on it in November, 2006. They eventually allowed us to go with the price they had initially said. We got a 10 percent discount on some leftover items.

I bought a wooden storage building from Home Depot. It was to be built on site in my backyard. Everything went according to plan except for one thing, the Home Depot installer cut several large limbs off of my neighbor's tree without asking permission. My neighbor was very unhappy and so was I.

The subcontractors did a great job - they were punctual and professional, it's Home Depot that was a bit of a problem. I had to call them several times and often, no one answered in Flooring (why don't they have voice mail?) There was poor coordination between Home Depot and the flooring and plumbing subcontractors. I found out working directly through the subcontractor is cheaper and easier (in particular, the cost for pulling and replacing the toilet was high), so I'll do that for future work. And Home Depot has you pay before the work is done, unlike most contractors. On the plus side, they do provide a 1-year warranty.
