When I made an appointment they got us right in and were very friendly. They called to remind us the day before of our appointment. When we arrived my dog, by this point after being to a million vet appointments, was scared and didn't really want to be there he would hide under the chairs and would not want to leave my side, I would have to trick him and pretend to walk in the back room with him and secretly hand the leash off to one of the girls who worked there. I talked to Dr. Holland and they did blood work and confirmed the VKH. We now see her every 6 weeks for blood work to make sure his levels look good. The doctor was very understanding and so sweet to us I really appreciated how nice she was. When his VKH comes back we call it his outbreak or his bad days, bc they come and go. In the beginning he would not make any noise while at the vet (we drop him off in the am and picked him up in the afternoon) they would always say how sweet he was. But he was depressed bc he was going blind and it was a scary time for him. Now almost a year later he loves going to see Dr. Holland and everyone who works there, they said he was making lots of noise one day (he is a husky they like to talk a lot when they are excited) and I was so excited to hear that, he is comfortable there and has a routine every time they walk him out he sits at the front desk and stares at the treats or at least where he thinks the treats are! And of corse he gets a couple. I also don't have to secretly hand the leash off anymore, he will just go with one of the girls to the back now all by himself. If you have to be referred to a specialty doctor, Dr. Holland is the one to choose, she is wonderful!

According to my vet, she was not any higher than anyone else. It was a lot of money but it may be in the same ballpark as anyone else. The staff was friendly. The treatment went well and my dog is responding as good as can be expected. I paid cash.

I first was referred to Dr. Holland with my Westie for liver enzyme problems. She did an ultrasound and blood work and we ended up putting Frosty on a compounded gall bladder medicine which brought the enzymes to normal levels. About a year later my dog started having seizures out of the blue. I took him to my normal vet and we started seizure meds. After a couple of months my regular vet sent me back to Dr. Holland to check the liver/gall bladder again and she has since handled the seizure issue; changing up medications, dosage amounts and food type. He is not seizure free yet but is the best he has been since last May and even has some days without any seizures. Dr. Holland and her staff have done a fantastic job and really care about his well-being and keep me well informed of the process. They are all very friendly and are working very hard to get my dog to his best health.
