GREAT DAY LLC

My wife and I were remodeling our kitchen and installed custom-built maple cabinets. I met Steve Tippy with Great Day LLC in the parking lot of a lumber yard and saw the sign on his truck that indicated he was a professional painter. I inquired about his experience with staining cabinets, and he told me he had been doing this for 30 years and could match any finish I showed him. I told him we were hoping to have a finish like one in the kitchen display area of that store and had him look at it. He said he could match it exactly. I hired him, and he asked for 50% down. I made a mathematical mistake in my head and gave him more like 70% of the bid price. He brought his wife/girlfriend, Brandy Weakly, and her brother to do the job. In short order, he absolutely ruined our cabinets. The stain was splotchy, and he sprayed lacquer on all the hinges and drawer glides. When I told him I was dissatisfied with his work, he instructed his helpers to load up their equipment, and he left. I never saw him again. It was the worst kitchen staining job I have ever seen in my 61 years. I tried repeatedly to get him to refund my money, but he refused. It cost me $1700 to hire a contractor to redo the cabinets. I recommend that under no circumstances you hire this crook.
