GENE'S TREE SERVICE

Gene and his crew showed up the day after I had them out for an estimate and did the job in three hours. They were efficient, and did not bother me for anything, I couldn't believe how fast they were. They know what they are doing. Gene was extremely nice and he gave me a great value for what I needed done. I will be using Gene again soon for two other large trees I have. I found him to be respectful and considerate, and most of all professional. Great job! I really appreciate you guys!

Gene gave an estimate that was reasonable (I didn't get the estimate in writing). He is knowledgable about trees. Gene asked if he could do the work that week because his crew was idle. I agreed. Gene and his crew came and did the work but, after the work, Gene insisted on a lot more money that what he estimated. This was not a misunderstanding. This was just unprofessionalism.
And Gene wanted more money despite not even doing all the work he originally promised he would do.
He is not professional at all. The work performed was done to my satisfaction (except for the work he failed to do, and I had to get someone else to do it for additional cost).
If you use Gene, get your estimate in writing and make sure it is a detailed item by item estimate. Otherwise, he may try to play games when it is time to settle up the bill.
Buyer beware with Gene's Tree Service

They do good work and are reasonable priced.

I called for an estimate and we scheduled a time for them to come out and look. They brought the stump grinder and i went ahead and had them do the work. All this happened on the same day. The stump grinding is just a messy endeavor but I needed the work done so I don't have to mow over the stump. A couple quirky things happened. They asked to use my rake to smooth out the dirt after the grinding was done. It wasn't a big deal but I was surprised they didn't come prepared with rake. I also walked out of my house as they were finishing up and they were using my neighbors garden hose to water down the dirt. This bothered me but they were finishing up so I didn't say anything. However I probably wont use this company again just for that reason. Its not right to use my neighbors water even if its more convenient. All they needed to do was just ask and I'll get them a hose.

The job took all day with four men working. I was generally pleased with their work. None of the poisoned stumps regrew.

Gene and his team got right to work and had the trees down and debris removed very quickly.

They then got the stump grinder to work on the two stumps in the front and additionally used some chemical to help promote the killing of the tree stump.

He appeared knowledgeable about what needed to be trimmed, I showed him branches overhanging the roof of the house, garage and sidewalks. He quoted me a price of $1500 and returned either the next day or later that week. I expected ropes, a harness, helmets and more safety equipment, but the one fellow climbed the trees by hand, to trim them with a chain saw. I was very nervous that he might fall. They stood on the back of the truck to trim some branches overhanging the street, and on the garage roof to trim those branches with a pole pruner. I expected a cherry picker truck that would lift the trimmer up to the trees, especially to remove dead branches. I thought the price was too high for the service I received and will not use them again.

It went great. He came out soon after the estimate and finished the work in a few hours. They did a good job getting all the limbs picked up afterwards. The tree looks much better and I'm grateful for taking out the shrubs because it saved me some backache.

My main issue here is that Gene gave me a verbal quote of $1500 after looking at the trees that needed attention on my property a week earlier. This included taking back one a large cottonwood branch and trimming a large maple and smaller oak on my property. He also told me they would be here a really long time to do this work. After his crew started the job, he informed me he'd need another $250/each to trim the large maple and smaller oak. I blame myself for not demanding a written quote outlining what he would do for the $1500. After Gene told me he needed an extra $500 he then did a few "no charge" trimmings on 2 small crate myrtles and removed a dying holly shrub. His crew did an OK job but I expected a far more thorough trimming for this amount of money. His crew did clean up well. Another problematic part of my experience is after handing Gene $2000 in cash-- he didn't have a receipt to give me!! He wrote that I paid $2000 on his business card. Hopefully I will get the receipt he said he'd mail to me. I don't think I'll use this company again, but if you do you better ask Gene for a written quote and/or go over the extent of the job and price before he starts any work. I really wish I had. Lastly, they arrived at 9:35 AM and were loaded and gone by 12 noon. Again-- I really expected a little more for this price.

I was so impressed... I called Gene's and then had to quickly hang up and take another call and they called me back twice to follow up. The came out the next day and provided an very reasonable estimate considering what needed to be done. They were on time, quick detailed and cleaned up very nicely afterwards. Definitely a great team.

Gene came out and gave me an estimate. He called me back later that same day to see if I wanted him to do the work( I got a total of three different estimates). He came out the next day and completed the work in 3 or 4 hours. The work was done in a timely manner with a mininum of intrusion. Everything was done as promised. It was pleasent to interact with Gene and his crew.

I called Gene on Tuesday afternoon and he was able to come out Wednesday morning to look at the job. Unfortunately it stated raining just before he got to my house, so we didn't spend much time looking at the trees. I originally wanted both trees trimmed and shaped. One tree had dead limbs hanging from an ice storm and the other had a split in the center trunk. He quoted $800 to do both. When he came to do the job on Friday of the same week, he found that the second tree also had a split in the main trunk. He advised that it would be best to cut it down completely. He then quoted 1200 for the whole job. I thought it was a bit high compared to his first quote, but not unreasonable. He had a crew of four and they worked all day to get the two trees done. They were very neat and professonal and took great care to clean up after themslves.

When I got Gene's estimate it was lowest so I asked him to do it. He said he would be back in the morning since it was late afternoon already. Next morning he showed up with a 4 man crew and proceeded to take down the tree. I thought he would have to come back another day because the neighbor had a truck in his driveway which is under the tree, but the crew was able to remove it safely. It took all morning to take down then they left for about 20 mins to get the grinder. It took another 2 hours to grind down the stump and rake out the debris.

Gene and his employee arrived on time and started working. It took them about 3 hours to finish all the work. Additional services were added on the day they came, that is why the price was over the estimate.

I think that their pricing was real good. They were real prompt and did a good job because my tree was basically laying in the street.

I called the afternoon before for an estimate. He arrived, provided a precise estimate and talked about the work that needed to be done. He arrived an hour later with an assistant and completed the work we discussed. Efficient and Knowledgeable.

Responded very quickly to request for estimate, and scheduled next-day service. Impressed with punctuality.

The owner is a bit gruff but they showed up quick for the estimate, showed up early for the job and went about their work without messing around and left the area clean after they were finished. I called two other services and they didn't even show up for the estimate!

I called in the morning and Gene came out a couple of hours later and walked the yard with me, advising and giving me the estimate. It happened that he was able to come out with his crew (two other guys) the same day and do the work. He was with them the whole time. The work was done as we agreed and I was happy with his attitude toward what was best for the trees and our house (and neighbors' houses). I enjoyed the whole transaction.

Gene came out and gave me an estimate, which I accepted and he arranged to come back with his crew later in the day. He arrived with a crew of 4 or 5 men at the time he said he would. One man climbed the tree and sawed off branches while the crew on the ground broke them down and fed them into the chipper. The tree was quite close to my house, so a few of the branches hit my carport and grazed my front gutter as they fell. One big branch fell on a lamp post in my front yard and did some damage. Gene oversaw the entire procedure and made arrangements with me after completion of the work to reimburse me for the cost of the damaged lamp post.

I was very pleased with the work Gene's Tree Service did. I did not want them to remove the stumps, but I did have them cut up the wood for firewood. They left the yard in great shape and I was certainly pleased with the job they did.
