Response from FOX BRICK & STONE MASONRY SERVICE
{Member name removed} sent me pictures as requested via email on Nov 5th As luck would have it, due to some kinda of "supper bug" I was down for almost a week, but I did reply to her., Unfortunately, she has unusual staining problem on her stone from copper sheathing over a bay window, and I guess, she was not happy with my candid reply. I try to be very honest and candid, about everything, even if it is not what people want to hear. But honesty sometimes it is not what people want to hear. So, here is a copy of the emails that we had back and forth, again just to be totally open. Wayne, Here are a couple of pictures. The stains on your stone, I think are a result your copper mansard over the bay window leeching on the stone If the stone is a soft limestone, I am not sure how deep the stains go, meaning, I am sure how successful a person would be on removing the stains. If you can remove them, then you could treat the stone with some chemicals to "retard" the re-occurrence. One of the bad things about copper. Sorry. If I can answer any further questions for you please let me know. I am pretty sure that I personally do not have the materials or resources to attempt to clean or remove the stains. Can you provide any additional information? Hopefully having success with the earlier attempts. Of course, you can remove the stone, and install a "harder masonry material" such as "machine cut Ada" but, I know that is not your desire. Thanks Wayne Wed, Nov 18, 2015 6:17 pm You are correct in that I do not have any desire to replace the stone. And I said previously I am not physically able to attempt that type of extensive cleaning. Thank you for the information that you provided. I will keep researching and see if I can find a company that provides that type of service. {member name removed)
