Countertops Plus Tubs

When I called them they seemed very receptive, responsible, and they gave me a lower quote than somebody else. He was friendly, professional, clean, he didn't leave any mess, and it was a good experience. They do guaranty it for 5 years.

The job was very poorly done.  After the young man finished the job we went to look at his work and noticed two hair line cracks still weren't covered.  He attempted to blame us for not pointing them out to him and used that as his excuse for not getting the job done completely. He was not willing to redo the areas he missed without calling his boss to get his permission.  His boss did not permit him to redo it unless we agreed to pay $75.00 more.  We really didn't have much choice in the matter so we agreed to pay an additional $75.00 for him to return and complete the job. He came back a few days later to fix the two hair line cracks he missed.  I noticed two times when I went to check on him he was on his cell phone.  He seemed preoccupied with other things going on while he was working on the tub and wasn't really focused from what I observed. After he completed the job it appeared to look fine.  I was told that there is no warranty on their work which I accepted and fully agreed to prior to the work being done.  However, after the job was completed I asked the fellow if he though the work he did would last for at least a year.  He said, "Oh, this will last much longer than that!  You're not going to see any cracks reappear for over a year for sure!".  Of course, his words were not a warranty, it was just him expressing confidence to me that I should not have to worry about the cracks reappearing for a long time.   Last month while getting ready to take a bath I noticed two hair line cracks reappear.  He had done the work in November 2010, and i noticed the cracks in April 2011.  That's only five months from the time he fixed the cracks.  We called the owner of the company to tell him what happened.  I explained to him that while we know there's no warranty on the work, the guy who did the work told us that we would not need to worry about the cracks reappearing for over a year.  He was very confident about this.  The owner said that it didn't matter what was told to me, what matters is that they don't give any warranty or guarantee on their work and I knew that before doing business with them. Yes, this is very true, I did know this, however, as I told the owner, your employees should not be telling their customers things that aren't true.  He said that the guys who did the work do it on commission and he wasn't going to do anything to accommodate me.  He said I could pay another $150.00 to have them come out and do the work again.  I told the owner that while he might not have given me a written warranty his employee made it very clear that we would not need to be concerned about any cracks showing up for over a year or more.  He was very confident of that. When the fellow came back out to do the job on the two cracks he missed, it just happened to be the very same cracks that reappeared last month.  I cannot prove it, but I suspect he did not use fiberglass material when he returned to "fix" the two cracks that he originally missed.  He was in and out of the house very quickly on this job which indicated to me he was not very through about fixing it.  My suspicion is he only sprayed painted over the cracks because of the short time he was there. Since it was the same two cracks he overlooked originally, that is what I personally believed happened. So, while I acknowledge that there was no written warranty, I also believe the work this fellow did was shoddy and and had he done a better job I am quite confident that we would not be dealing with this problem just five months after it was supposedly fixed. The owner was not willing to compromise or do anything to make this right even though his employee verbally agreed that his work would last well over a year.  Because of their shoddy workmanship, and the owner's unwillingness to fix the problem, especially considering this was the same two cracks the fellow overlooked in the first place, I would not recommend this company for bathtub repair work.  The fellow who did the work did not seem to be into what he was doing and was in a hurry to get the job over with.   I can't speak for the company's countertop work, or their bathtub refurbishing work, but I can attest to the fact that they are not the company you want to use for repairing cracks or holes in your bathtub.  Now we have to hire someone else to come and redo the work over again and spend another $300.00 if we want to have this problem fixed.  We're very sorry we used Countertops Plus for our jetted bathtub repair work.
