"Hello [member name removed], Thank you for choosing us to help you move. Our goal is to always provide excellent service no matter the situation"
"Thank you for choosing Convenient Movers. We are always happy to have our family or movers move your family."
WELL THE DAY BEFORE THE MOVERS WAS TO BE THERE, I RECIEVED A CALL FROM ONE OF THE MOVERS SAYING THAT THEY WERE ON THEIR WAY RIDING A GREYHOUND BUS, FROM OKLAHOMA CITY, TO CHAMPAIGN, ILLINOIS.
SO I DROVE 35 MILES TO CHAMPAIGN, AT 11:00 PM TO PICK UP THE MOVERS AND DRIVE THEM BACK TO DANVILLE AND DELIVERED THEM TO THEIR MOTEL.
THE NEXT DAY, I HAD TO GO AND PICK THEM UP FROM THE MOTEL AND DRIVE THEM 40 MILES DOWN TO WHERE THEY WERE PICKING UP THE U-HAUL TRUCK. WELL, BY THEN IT WAS ALMOST 11 AM, AND OF COURSE THEY HADN'T EATEN ANYTHING....THEY DIDN'T HAVE ANY MONEY, SO I SENT MY SISTER OUT TO GET SANDWICHES FOR THE TWO MOVERS.
DURING ALL OF THIS, I FIND OUT THAT THEY HAD JUST STARTED WORKING FOR CONVENIENT MOVERS THE DAY THEY GOT ON THE BUS. THE MANAGER HAD HIRED THEM OFF OF CRAIG'S LIST. ANY WAY THEY WORKED THE REST OF THAT DAY AND ALL DAY THE NEXT LOADING THE ONE TRUCK AND THEN THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE RUNNING OUT OF ROOM AND WOULD NEED AN ADDITIONAL TRUCK. I THEN CALL U-HAUL AND FIND ANOTHER TRUCK, BUT IT WAS 65 MILES OVER IN INDIANA. SO ONE OF THE LOADERS AND I DRIVE OVER TO TERRA HAUTE, INDIANA. THAT KILLED ANOTHER 3 HOURS. SO WE GET BACK AND THEY START LOADING THE LITTLE TRUCK AND THEN ABOUT 7PM THEY FINISHED AND WERE READY TO GO.
THIS WAS ON FRIDAY, JULY 19, 2013 AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WOULD MEET ME AT MY HOUSE IN YUKON, OKLAHOMA ON SUNDAY THE 21st OF JULY 2013. WE KEPT IN CONTACT WITH THEM THAT EVENING VIA CELL PHONES BUT THE NEXT DAY THEY DIDN'T PICK UP TO ANSWER THE PHONE.
WE ARRIVED AT MY HOUSE LATE SATURDAY EVENING AND WERE WAITING ON THEM ALL DAY SUNDAY, BUT THEY NEVER ARRIVED. THEY NEVER ANSWERED THE CELL PHONE.
ON MONDAY, I CALLED THE OFFICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD TRY TO REACH THE MOVERS. BUT I NEVER RECIEVED A CALL BACK THAT DAY. SO I CALLED THE NEXT DAY, AND THE NEXT DAY, AND THE NEXT DAY AND THEN I CALLED THE OKLAHOMA CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT TO REPORT A THEFT, BUT WAS TOLD THAT I HAD TO FILE THE COMPLAINT IN DANVILLE ILLINOIS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THAT WAS WHERE THEY STOLE THE STUFF FROM.
SO I CALLED THE POLICE UP IN DANVILLE AND FILED A REPORT WITH THEM. WHEN I DID GET IN CONTACT WITH THE MANAGER OF CONVENIENT MOVERS, HIS NAME WAS JAY; HE GAVE ME THE NAME OF THEIR INSURANCE COMPLANY. I CALLED THEIR INSURANCE COMPANY AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY DIDN'T HAVE INSURANCE TO COVER THE COMPANY TO USE RENTAL TRUCKS, THEY WERE ONLY COVERED TO USE THEIR OWN TRUCKS WHICH DIDN'T MAKE ANY SINCE BECAUSE IT WAS A BUSINESS.
ANYWAY I SPENT ABOUT 3 WEEK MAKING A LIST OF ITEMS AND CLOTHING THAT WERE ON THE TWO TRUCKS AND IT WAS STAGGERING. THE TOTAL FOR EVERING THAT I COULD REMEMBER AT THE TIME WAS OVER $300,000.00.
ONE OF THE TRUCKS WAS FOUND ABOUT 4 WEEKS LATER IN OCALA, FLORIDA EMPTIED. AND THE OTHER TRUCK WAS FOUND, BACK IN DANVILLE ILLINOIS EMPTY 6 MONTHS LATER WITH OVER 10,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER.
THE POLICE HAVE ISSUED WARRANTS FOR THE INDIVIUALS BECAUSE MY SISTER AND I PICKED THEM OUT OF A PHOTO ARRAY.
MY HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE POLICY PAID ONE THIRD OF MY LOSS BECAUSE THAT WAS THE MAXIMUM ON MY POLICY. THE COMPANY THINKS THAT THEY ARE NOT LIABLE. THEY HAVE NEVER EVEN TRIED TO COMPENSATE ME AT ALL IN THIS MATTER."You forgot the part of the story that goes on to say, you had a contract with the company to move you. But then you negotiated a separate contract with the movers for a lesser price without the management of Convenient Movers knowing about it. Thereby you, violated the official contract you had with the company. The manager called you and the movers several times on the day of the move and you both did not answer your phones because you and the contract movers negotiated a seperate deal and seperate price without the company knowledge which was violated the contract with convenient Movers. You rented a truck which was in violated on company contract. That's why the insurance refused to pay your claim. Our company do not encourage customers to make backdoor deals with our employees or contractors in order to get a cheaper price because it violates the legal agreement you have with our company and when things go wrong, the company is not liable. Our rates are already very low. You forgot to mention that you did not pay convenient Movers a dime for your move."
"[member name removed] we really appreciate you as a great customer. Words alone are not enough to express how appreciative we are to you. We also appreciate the fact that you took time to write something honest about the excellent work we did for you. We will continue to provide excellent reliable service to every customer who chooses us. We understand that there are some people out there who no matter what, cannot be satisfied. But we pledge to do our best towards you and all future customers. Best wishes in your new location and be blessed."
They came with a truck that only held half of my stuff, so we had to rent a truck bigger than they had brought so we could move the rest of it. They told me if I used a regular check or credit card there would be 15% charge so I had to get a cashier's check. When we got to the location they said they were going to put part of my stuff in storage until I paid them. They said they would wrap my furniture and take care of it making sure it wouldn't it be scratched but none of this was done. My furniture was scratched, my mattress were ripped, there were black hand prints, anything they could of messed up they did. Because of this I did not feel like I should pay them the full amount we had decided on. To this day they are still holding my stuff in storage. Do not use this company they are a scam.
"Movers informed you several times that you need 2 truck loads. Quote was given for 1 truck and trailer. When move was complete, you refused to pay a dime. Nothing was damaged. You are only claiming damage out of spite. As of today, you still havent paid for your move from oklahoma to alabama. What did you expect? A free move?"
"Thank you for giving us a chance to help u move. We are very thankful for you choosing us. Thank you"
1. You don't have any questions about moving and about their fees prior to move. (None of my calls or emails were returned. I didn't even know if they were going to show up until David called the day before to confirm our time.)
2. You don't reschedule with them (even if you thought they weren't coming in the first place and you weren't ready. EVEN if sleet is forecasted 100%). They have to stay on schedule as much as possible (even if you do schedule a Sunday or a Monday move. Those are highly busy days because it is 2-3 days before Thanksgiving for heaven's sake. Everyone is moving on those days.)
3. You don't expect them to be on time. If you do expect that then schedule them for 1st thing in the morning. (If you are scheduled for afternoon, chances are they did a move prior to yours.)
4. You make sure to request 2 experienced, fast-moving, strong guys with clean boots or better yet, that wear booties if you need them to. (Afterall, you are paying them by the hour. 2 tired guys, one of which is limping from an injury and has to be told how to handle the furniture mattresses will take 4.5+ hours just to load the truck. Healty, fresh strong guys however, will unload the truck in an hour and 20 minutes. This is noted as a comparison but it is true, David, that unloading goes much faster.)
5. You do not tell them how YOU want the truck loaded. They do this every day and know how to efficiently load so everything fits.(Though it may seem very smart to have them load the garage items first, the boxes and furniture second and the beds last so the kids can go to sleep before 1am it will only cause you to rent a cargo van the next day to get the things they couldn't fit on the truck.
6. You ask that the moving truck be filled with gas prior. (Otherwise you will have to find where to buy diesel and wait for the truck to fill up and then follow you to your new apartment which is only 10 miles away but you had to stop for gas)
7. You don't need insist the move be continued the next day when it goes awry. (Even if it is approaching midnight, you have two kids with you, and EVERYONE is tired, even the moving guys. Afterall, they had a prior move, got to your place at 6pm instead of 3pm, and one was in pain from a leg injury. NO ONE wanted to continue this move except for argumentive David from the office and the heavy accented Owner who has now been called because of the problems. It will cost you a night in a hotel and another day of moving.) Let them unload it no matter what!
8. You pay them the agreed upon amount on the inital call with them. (Don't expect them to take an hour off the bill they said they would to compensate for a fraction of the cost of cleaning your carpet when you don't want the truck unloaded at midnight where the same red mud problem will occur onto your brand hew carpeting.)
9. You don't argue with management. (This will only cost more time which you are paying for remember?)
10. Get a copy of their contract before the move. (When they show up at the door with it and you have a question about the insurance coverage David will not know the answer and the Owner may not be able to be reached by his company. After your stuff is loaded it will be too late to argue a ridiculous amount of extra insurance. 60 cents a pound to cover a nice heavy piece of antique furniture or mirror is not enough and the amount he quotes after the fact will not be a fair gamble)
My advice is to sell everything you own and start over. It is cheaper than moving your old stuff and a lot less hassle. It won't fit or match in your new place anyway and the money you spend moving everything could go toward stuff that does.
"In life despite how hard you try to please everyone, it is impossible. [Member Name Removed], you rescheduled your move 5 times. and then on moving day you changed the time. We told you that we had other customers to service that morning but we could try to fit you in the afternoon. You said that was fine, we are surprised that you write a complain like this. About the guy with the accent, If you didn't like the accent, how come you didn't call another company who have no employees with accents to do your move? if the movers didn't return your calls, how come you didn't hire another moving company? While the movers were working, the only thing you did was look around and try to find damage to your goods. But of course, there was no damage. You tried to find many ways to get out of paying for your move. We now understand why the other movers you hired didn't show up to help you move. Our goal is to provide great service to all customers, if you are not satisfied, we apologise."
The first issue was with arranging the appointment. After agreeing on an afternoon time, a voice mail was left the evening before the move stating that the movers would be there at 10 in the morning. When called early the morning of the move, tne office person vaguely replied, that well, OK, they could come in the afternoon and cancel the 10 AM appointment that we did not set, but they did not set a time for the afternoon. When called a third time, the other office call responder set the time of 2PM. Ultimately, though, the movers called to say they would be there early and one of us had to rush over to the apartment to meet them.
First, I will acknowledge that the furniture, ceiling light fixtures and walls were handled with care, but the movers were frustratingly slow. Extra charges were tacked on ($46 environmental fee and a $20 fee for moving from two different places, even though the 2nd place was the first destination and the second destination was the original pick up point). Also, because the movers were slow, this, as unlikely as it might seem, took more than the purchased 2 hours to complete. The company will not prorate any fraction of an hour so an additional $99 was tacked on, a higher rate than the originally purchased two hour package and for less than 30 minutes work. The total of nearly $300 is exorbitant for the small amount of moved objects and the closeness of the two points of exchange.
While the movers were in the house, I called the office to have the extra charges reconsidered, but they were not reduced. I was told that I should go ahead and write my review however I saw fit as my only recourse.
"[removed member name], Thank you for writing a review. Your only frustration here is that you had to pay for your move. Its normal that when you have a lot to move, the move takes more time and obviously more money. We apologize that you had too much stuff. The movers worked for about 6 hours and you called in saying you want an extra discount. The manager said we had exhausted the discounts given to you, so you get angry and write a bad review. I am sure if we took off $20.00 from the bill, you would have written an excellent review. We are the most affordable moving company.Next time maybe consider getting rid of the things you don't need before your move."
"We regret the poor service. Some men are stronger and wiser than others. Our company has grown 3 folds since 2010 and in an effort to grow our company we have had positives and negatives. We have made changes and will do better with the next customers we get. Again thank you for the feedback."
"You gave us the wrong groupon code. then you did not pay the movers for working for 4 hrs. because you said you had no money. Then you were very rude and arrogant. I cant believe you are an angieslist member. Worst experience from a customer ever. We moved you and you should be ashamed of yourself for refusing to pay"
