Jason was punctual, friendly and seemed to care about my problems. He scheduled the repair the afternoon of the day he first examined the problem because rain was forecast for that evening. The rain did not materialize, but we have had substantial downpours since then and no leaks.
Description of Work: Roof repair at the junction between a pitched roof and a flat roof. It has been leaking off and on for several years. I have had it repairs a number of times and the repairs do not last.

A representative of Big Sky called and made an appointment to come out and evaluate the problem. Upon his arrival, I took him to the area of concern and explained the problem. He then climbed upon the roof to survey the situation. After looking around for a few minutes, he came down and told me that he felt that it was not financially profitable for Big Sky Roofing to perform the repair/maintenance needed. He said that if I wanted a roof replacement, he would be glad to give me an estimate. I told him 'No Thanks' and he left. I have since made the repairs myself and am satisfied except for one leak I have not had an opportunity to evaluate due to the lack of suffient rain in the area.
Description of Work: I requested roof maintenance to fix a leak in a screened-in addition to the rear of my home.

Summing up the saga, I would caution the consumer to hire Big Sky exclusively for roofing needs. The auxiliary services, such as guttering, siding, some general contracting work, and fascia, are not their strong suits per se. As other reviews have mentioned, Raquel is friendly on the phone and Jason is professional in person. Jason surveyed the storm damage at my house, reviewed the insurance estimates, and felt that he could deliver the necessary services at much below the estimated costs. He provided a roofing estimate at that time. I suppose, had I only needed roofing, that the work could have progressed quickly forward and been finished in the next 1-2 weeks. Jason assured me that they were hiring a siding installation person and had a person who would be able to help with a special roofing project (ventilation for the attic). Things fell apart from that point going forward. As a busy professional, I would have been better suited had I worked from home or been a business administrator. With that time and skill, I would have been able to herd the cats assembled under the banner, "Big Sky Roofing," and could have perhaps wrangled a job out of them in the next few months. Leaving it to the people at Big Sky, it took until December to finish. I believe my house spent most of the time forgotten, but when I would call to inquire on the work Raquel or someone else in the office would act shocked that work had not been completed as discussed. Sometimes they were incredulous, other times dismayed, and empathized with my frustration. Their crews, they would explain, were very difficult to contact or get in touch with. They admitted to not knowing where they were, or hadn't heard from them in some time. One crucial part of my plan reportedly moved to California in the middle of the job and went unreplaced by Big Sky. I'll explain the process in better detail section by section. The roofing: The crew left the supplies in my driveway as we had discussed and agreed on. The arrived the day we discussed and started on the house. Jason called once to check on progress, and the work progressed over the weekend until it reached the garage. The crew reportedly took pictures of damaged decking in case the insurance company battled me later. The crew left Saturday with the garage stripped and ready for roofing. They didn't come back on Sunday (understandable, had my roof not been laid bare), or Monday. I called Tuesday afternoon, when I still hadn't seen roofers but there were stacks of shingles remaining in my driveway any my garage roof remained bare. Raquel was surprised that the work wasn't finished, and was confused about whether a crew was supposed to be there or not. Jason would call me back, she explained. This set the bar for what became a familiar procedure at my house. The crew, Jason explained, had run out of decking materials and would be finished tomorrow. Remarkable, I thought, that no one had bothered to tell me. I also couldn't help but wonder, and wondered consistently over the fall of 2012, whether work would have resumed had I not called. The roofing crew did finish, but left a cup of old nails scattered on my driveway. The interior of my garage was a disaster. Nails, broken wood, and old shingles covered everything. I wear boots in my garage now for safety as I can't clean it enough times to seem to get all the random nails out of their hiding places. Siding, Fascia, Window Wrap: The siding guy missed entire sides of my house in his estimates, and missed sides again on a request to come back out. Siding repair in the back of the house went fairly quickly with the exception of my security light being broken (replaced by Big Sky in December). There was a problem that we began to face in the later part of the fall - my fascia was old and custom and could not be matched. I spoke with my insurance company about replacing all the fascia (even undamaged), and they agreed. Work proceeded regardless of this, as the work agreed on in the estimate did not indicate all fascia. Due to poor communication between Big Sky HQ and the siding guy, I did not know that he was not replacing everything. He replaced part of the front fascia and did a window wrap. He left my gutter hanging off the front of my house, his equipment on the front porch, scraps of metal fascia in the flower bed. I called when I got home and saw my gutter, but left a message as it was after hours. Two days later, I left another message and sent an email to Raquel. I heard nothing, so I cleaned up my flower beds, tried to repair the gutter, and moved the equipment to the driveway. 1 week later, I heard that the siding guy was sick. 2 weeks later, the siding guy returned! He finished the work he agreed on in the original estimate. The east side of my house has unmatching fascia as the rest of my house - that is my problem, now, and I am happier to have this mismatch than I would have been had I needed to coax more work from Big Sky's employees. Special Ventilation Project: When they were able to contact Bill, their structural 'engineer' on retainer, he would usually contact me a few days thereafter. He did eventually come into my home and provide an estimate, and he did eventually get the work done. He left some wood trim unpainted, but Big Sky finished that for him in December. The summer hasn't struck yet, so I've no idea as to the function of the work completed. I will say, all three gables look like they were built with the house - they exceed my aesthetic expectations. Business End: There was evidence of additional dysfuntion in the office when the collections department (or collections worker) began to call for payment on the roof before other aspects of the project were completed. Considering the incredibly unreliable presence of laborers at my house and poor communications, I shouldn't have expected differently. However, I did explain on the first call that much of the work hadn't yet been finished - indeed, there were still holes in my siding from the hail storm. The caller was surprised, and promised she'd get someone to address this. I didn't hear from Big Sky for two more weeks, when she called again to collect on the roof. The project remained as it had when we'd last talked, I explained, and I did not feel confident paying them for what had been completed when they couldn't seem to get their employees to complete the rest. Eventually, the project was completed (minus what I explained above) and Jason came out to sign the final papers. He was apologetic for the process, and described that the subcontracted siding and special projects guy had been let go from the Big Sky team. In review, I would agree with previous reviewers that Jason and Raquel are pleasant to work with. I felt the process was entirely too difficult to move forward. I was disappointed that they seemed confused as to why certain work was or wasn't completed, when, how, and by whom. I didn't expect to have to call so many times to get people to come to my house and work. I was frustrated beyond belief towards the end of the project, and was happy to call it finished. The entire project was completed for the adjuster's estimated amount. All in all, I am out only my deductible, and we were able to add an additional project to that grand sum. I would not consider hiring them again. I submit this review knowing it is an outlier, an oddity, and peculiar to the glowing reviews Big Sky has received. It was for those reviews that I selected them, and because of them that I dissent vehemently.
Description of Work: The hail storm in OKC happened in May of 2012. I contacted Big Sky in June of 2012, based on overwhelming positive reviews on Angie's List. Based on my adjuster, I needed a new roof, guttering, siding, and some window wrap/fascia work completed. We signed estimates and paperwork in July after I consulted with a few other roofing companies. The work was completed in December. I intended to write a detailed litany of my experience with Big Sky, but having allowed months to reflect, I will instead submit this review more generally.

I must say that we did have a few problems initially where the workers werent paying attention to the quality of work but when it was brought to Greg Dykstas attention he rectified the situation. Just recently after a rain I did have a leak in the den where the workers did not properly seal a vent and it leaked through on the ceiling. After notifying Greg he had his workers fix the problem and repaint my ceiling. As long as you pay attention you can catch the workers taking shortcuts. Fortunately I had someone to help me spot these. I dont know if it was a subcontractor working for Greg or not but I am pleased of the response I got from Greg and that he was more than willing to fix anything that has come up. I may use them to remodel my kitchen and bathroom. Still thinking about it.
Description of Work: I had my entire roof replaced due to hail damage along with removal of a storage unit. I also had screens replaced, repair to a pergala and gutter repair.

The materials arrived on Thursday. The work was completed on Friday. The gentlemen that arrived were very professional and accommodating. I also had 2 other contractors come out that same day. The workers were very accommodating when one contractor had deliveries that would have been damaged by the roof debris. Big Sky has been a great contractor to work with. I plan on using them to replace my gutters as well.

I bit on an AL promotion for this contractor; for $300 I was supposed to get two painters for a day. I figured this would get me a good way toward getting my house painted; it's a small house and I had estimates to paint it for $1200. These guys gave me an estimate of almost $3000 for the job, or over twice the other estimates I had even after the coupon discount.
Description of Work: This was supposed to be two painters for a day for 300 bucks; they ended up quoting me twice the other estimates I had for an exterior paint job. $300 p***** away. Stay away from these type deals.

I am very impressed with Big Sky. Larry was especially helpful in provided direction and talking through the job. I wasn't really sure about the room and colors to use. He patiently talked through the options and brainstormed best approaches. The quality of the paint job was excellent - exactly what I expected. It was a tough room to paint with numerous angles and walls that didn't quite "match up" due to prior construction and taping issues. Big Sky did a great job of using the paint to make the room look put together.
Description of Work: Provided direction on painting media room including discussion on colors and tones for room. Scheduled painting. Big Sky prepared walls, taped off where needed and painted the room.

I signed up for Big Sky Roofing's $149 roof service from Angie's List Big Deal. They promptly came over and evaluated the roof but determined that their service could not fix my leaks because the original roof was applied without any underlayment. They refunded the Angie's list fee. I only rate them less than "Excellent" because they did not follow up with an estimate of what it would take to actually repair/replace the roof.

This company is very easy to deal with. They were listed as a trusted company by State Farm Insurance. We sustained severe hail damage to our home including our roof, windows, and gutters. They were very quick in getting us on their repair schedule and completed the work in a day and a half. They were very thorough in their cleanup and we have yet to see a single nail from the repair job.

I thought Jeff was polite and professional. I asked just how bad the other company did (because we were pretty disgusted with the water damage issue) and he didn't say an unkind word against them. He said if we had any more issues to give him a call and they would be happy to come back out. It has rained a few times since the work has been completed and we haven't noticed any additional damage. I am waiting to see what a torrential downpour will do. I have my fingers crossed, but so far so good!
Description of Work: We had a new roof put on in 2009 by another company and when they installed it, they did not properly secure the flashing or seal around the base of the chimney. The first time it rained we got some pretty severe water damage in our kitchen. Every time we called that contractor he said he would have his guys come out to look at it and fix it but that never happened, and of course, our warranty expired and we were out of luck. We had tried to seal it ourselves but my husband and I are both afraid of heights, so needless to say, we didn't do very well. I purchased this maintenance package from Big Sky Roofing in hopes that we could get someone to properly seal it for us and prevent any further damage. Jeff came out and removed our feeble attempt at sealing, secured our flashing, and caulked around the chimney. He also did an inspection of the roof and secured some nails that had been coming lose.

The initial contact for the estimate was courteous and accurate as to when they said they would start the job. The actual job took two days and seemingly without problems. However, the Z-Ridge caps are irregular and curl upward compared to how they were installed on my previous roof. Also, I have had to call the company twice due to a roof leak found during the two rainy periods since the roofing was done. The company was responsive to my calls and came out quickly to work on the leak, but I expect a new roof not to leak in the first place. I can only assume the leak is repaired but will have to wait until another rain storm to confirm. Unfortunately, the person who made the initial contact and estimate told me he would personally oversee the roof replacement, but I never saw him again while the roof was replaced or when the roofers came to repair the leak.

After returning from a trip in October, we discovered a wet spot in ceiling. Found out that the company that put our roof on had lost it's rating by the BBB after many unresolved complaints and they were no longer in our area. We had only used Angies List once before, but decided I needed to find a reputable roofer. I found that Big Sky had the best reviews of all on the list. After calling, they said Jason could come out the next day. He came and fixed the problem on the spot and charged nothing. I was afraid that it would be difficult to get someone to come out for such a small, unprofitable job. Jason Casteel not only fixed our problem, he eased my mind by reassuring me that the rest of the roof was well installed and in good shape.
Description of Work: Inspected roof for cause of leak in bedroom. Determined that water was getting in around a pipe vent which had not been caulked when roof was put on by another company 2 1/2 yrs ago. Fixed the problem, no charge.
