A contractor working on my neighbor's house backed into our mailbox with his van, snapping off the post near the base. We bought a new mailbox, but the base of the new one didn't fit onto the bolts anchoring the old base to the sidewalk. In the mid-afternoon, I called the company and the lady who answered the phone politely said that John would call me when he got back to the office. John called around lunch time the next day to find out the details of the job and said he would check the weather and call me back, which he did less than hour later and asked if he could come down and get it done before the stormy weather moved in. He arrived an hour or so later and I showed him what needed to be done. One of the anchor bolts they had installed when we got a new mailbox two-and-a-half years ago was at an angle and wouldn't allow the new mailbox base to go down on the bolts. Even if it had been straight, the bolts were spaced a fraction of an inch too close to allow the new base to fit without forcing it. I asked John if he could straighten the crooked bolt, and he said he thought it would be better to replace them all to make the new base fit correctly. I did ask if there was a cost difference between straightening one bolt and replacing four, but I don't remember his answer. John completed the work in about 30 minutes and swept up the sidewalk around the new mailbox when he finished. I believe I could have gotten the job done at a lower cost if I had shopped for another service provider, but this company had done this job for us before and I needed to get the new mailbox installed before the post office stopped delivering my mail. John did say he gave me $10 off because I helped him. I gave an A rating for Quality since the new mailbox base fit easily onto the bolts he installed. From the conversation with the lady who answered my initial call, I expected John to call me back that same day, but the new mailbox was installed a day after my initial call, thus the B rating for Responsiveness. Professionalism rated a B because both people were friendly and professional. The D rating for Price is because $260/hour (before the discount) seems high for the work performed, even though I don't know what other service providers charge. Punctuality received an N/A rating because we never had a scheduled time for the work to be done. I don't think I'll use this provider again because of the cost.
