I had a 20+ year old AC and furnace that finally died this summer. On a recommendation, I called David at Advantage. It turns out it died right before July 4th as family was coming into town. David and his crew gave up a chunk of their holiday to ensure my family and guests were taken care of. David was polite, professional, and thorough. I researched all information that David shared with me and watched every step closely, and I can say he did not try to sell me anything I did not need, and did not overcharge. Then, a few months later when we turned on the furnace for the first time, we wanted to make sure it all was excellent with our investment. David provided a complimentary follow up this week and came out to check everything to make sure all was performing at top notch. Once again, he was thorough, professional, and polite in this follow up visit.

Missed a key thing. Compressor wasn't coming on. Wires were obviously burnt and broken. They didn't look. Charged $650 to replace motor. That was it. Didn't look at unit in the house hardly and didn't suggest coil clean. Smoking on my front porch and left a butt.

I needed an HVAC system replaced in my rental house. The good news is that they quoted me the lowest price of the 4 installers that i contacted. $4,000 for a 3 ton unit install. Once the Unit was out he discovered a rusted out vent under the foundation just below the unit. he called me to check it out and quoted me $1500 to replace the venting (only below the HVAC unit) . I am a pretty handy guy although I don't look like it. I fixed jet Aircraft for several years, I have rebuilt transmissions, I built my kids a treehouse from the ground up, ETC. point being, I have a general idea what things should cost when it comes to maintenance. I also have a gut for when I am being hustled. The unit is out. Do i really have a choice at this point? So I tell the guy, you are telling me $1500, more and all I see is a little sheet metal made out of aluminum. its not gold or silver. how is that $1500 ? never got an answer that made sense. but the total price was still slightly lower that the other quotes. and once again, the unit was removed and the renters need Air, so its not like I had a choice. so i leave for 60 minutes, and roll back in just in time for them to wheel the unit back over the hole. You would think they would say "here take a look" considering that I was obviously not happy about $1500 for 12 sq ft of Aluminum, but no. Just plopped that unit right on top of a supposedly artistically adorned air hole. They were moving a heave unit however, so I left them to there own devices. Just for grins I asked to see the removed venting. This is when I was informed that they didn't remove the old venting, just line the existing venting. Lines the old stuff? not replaced, Lined. For $1500. Really ? Not lined with Gold platinum and silver. and it took less that 60 minutes. $1500. Still $200-$500 cheaper than others. But here is the part that really bothered me. I figure, well hey, just paid the guy $5,500 total, for an install that was quoted at $4,000. Might as well have my personal HVAC serviced at my house, because surely I earned some loyalty from these bush league bandits. So against my better judgement, I schedule a service call with Advantage for two weeks later. I take the day off of work. Guess who is a 'No-Show'? You guessed it. Advantage Heat & Air. In fact, when I called them 10 minutes after the scheduled showtime. He asks, What were we doing for you today? OK, I get it. the margins for an Install is a lot higher. But after dropping that much money, you should at least remember who I am 2 weeks later. Then he suggests that I call him next week to reschedule. Yeah OK. Let me take more time off of work to reschedule with you. Not likely.

This is the nightmare that you want to avoid when you get a new HVAC system.
During installation of the new unit in my attic my ceiling sustained damage. The company returned and attempted to fix the ceiling with caulking. Initially when it was wet it looked OK but after it dried you could see the imperfections. It looked very amateurish.
About a month and a half later after installation, the Heating and cooling system in the attic started leaking copious amounts of water. As a result, this caused extensive damage to my dining room ceiling. The company verified that there was no clogged up drain pipes and the drip pan was in appropriate condition. After that they used a 2x4 piece of wood to prop the unit level. It is my guess that this is not to code but they were trying to get the water to go towards the drain. Unfortunately their rigging of the system did not work.
In my opinion, I wish I had never picked this company. I based my decision to use this company on the other two 5 star reviews.  Do not believe those reviews. These guys do sloppy work.
