Ed, the owner has been here for very long. He has always done this, he will come out and look and let me tell him what I think is wrong and he will tell me what is really wrong and there was nothing wrong this time, the brake pads were dirty which was making them squeaky. He didn't charge me for that. We were trying to nurse our vehicle that we had from Michigan and it got to the point where the last time he had it up on the lift, he brought it down and said he couldn't work on it anymore, and said if he bare touched a few things, the whole bottom would fall off because of the rust. He is really honest about everything and he will tell you the truth, which is important for an auto mechanic. His prices are reasonable.

Ed provided EXCELLENT service in both instances- this is a mechanic who is reliable, honest, direct, and good at what he does.

After a service review, he clearly explained what needed to be done and provided detailed estimates breaking down parts, labor, etc. He does not talk down to you and answers questions. We made an appointment and he did the one part of the work within the time frame he promised and the cost was in line with estimate. Throughout the process, Ed was clear with me and responsive. I was very impressed with the level of personal service. I am confident about the repairs he did.

About 3 weeks later, I had an unrelated issue and had to have my car towed to Off-Campus. Ed took care it within a day. This was after we conferred long distance as I was out of town and had to wait to deal with the issue upon my return. We talked and he asked questions and correctly diagnosed the issue and made sure he had the parts on hand to do the repair. He was very caring and I appreciated his service and responsiveness.

Overall, I would highly recommend Ed and Off-Campus. He is responsive, honest, clear, and true professional at what he does. This is a mechanic who is the real deal -- the kind of mechanic you want working on your car and you want to recommend to friends and family.

I trust Ed to do a good job and be clear and honest with me AND be fair. And he is very nice guy that you like doing business with -- Ed is what local businesses are all about.

I will be taking my car to Ed and Off-Campus for the other two issues to be resolved.

I was getting a sketchy answer for what was wrong with my car at another auto shop and decided to get a second opinion. I called and Ed told me when he would have time to examine my car and even offered to have it towed. I got the car to his shop the morning he was available and before afternoon he called to give me the diagnosis. He was very informative and not condescending at all when giving me the and quot;laymen's termsand quot; of what was wrong. When the other car shop misdiagnosed the problem, he told me everything that was wrong AND instead of taking my money he was kind enough to tell me that the car was not worth the trouble. He even allowed me time to make arrangements for the car to be moved.

Off Campus was recommended to me by a friend. I checked the ratings on Angie's list and liked what I saw, so I took my 2007 Nissan Murano in for a second opinion. The Nissan dealer has recommended about $1,900 worth of work on the vehicle and I was suspicious that some of it was not needed.
Off Campus is a 2-person shop, so sometimes they get a bit busy. When I called to set up an appointment, Ed had time a few days later to see the car. I showed up and without waiting we went on a test-drive so he could see what he thought. Ed felt like the dealer was being pretty extreme and that the suspension work was not anywhere near necessary. It has been about 8 months now and I have spent $0 of the $1,900 the dealer said I needed to do and quot;very soonand quot; and the car is just fine. I appreciate Ed's honesty and hands-on test-drive method of checking the problems before dispensing advice.
---
On my 1998 Passat, which is getting old and needed a good look-over, Ed found a few small issues and again was up front about what was needed NOW vs. what could wait. He also gave good advice when I told him I wanted to keep the car for a long time - he told me the cons, which I knew of, and explained some of the problems I could run into. Again, I appreciate this.
---
On my 1999 Cabrio, I took it in when the ABS light started flashing. They were a bit tied up, so the wait was about a week before he could get to it. At that time, Ed diagnosed it quickly and called me back to the shop while the car was still on the lift and pointed out some other problems I was not aware of. He was not pushy and did not try to talk me into things one way or the other. He also discovered a problem with one of my brakes that I did not know about (unrelated to the ABS). He does not fix things the cheap way (as he explained the different ways we could fix the problem - but explained that on safety items you shouldn't cheap out).
All-in-all, I have never been so satisfied with the communication, diagnoses, and work performed by a shop. And with two old VWs, you can trust me when I say I have had a lot of car work done. Ed and Billy have done a great job for me and have earned my business from here on out.

The story would take the Library of Congress to tell, but Ed and Billy have been lumbered with my '68 Impala and it's ongoing issues for 3 years now, and gone well, well beyond the pale to work with the car and me. The car's issues even landed me in psychiatric care, and through that, Ed and Billy righted the wrong in an almost 'superhero' fashion, right down to the 'aw shucks' you get when thanking them.

The Impala has been one sad episode after another, and Off Campus Motors has been there for me since I first pulled into their driveway. . . so much so that when we bought a cheapie second-hand (Conversion) van, we asked Ed to check it out and tell us what it might need. He changed the trans fluid and filter, filled/checked the fluids, and repaired both a badly-hanging driver's-side door and installed new wiper blades (when all he had to do there was install a bushing to get them working again!)...and all this when I wanted the van checked out and a noisy wheel bearing replaced!

If I could, I'd adopt these guys, even though they're older than me. They're that good, that honest, and that thorough. How often do you find that, especially THESE days?

Anybody who asks me about car services I always refer to this company. It is a smaller shop with the two men, and they are so trustworthy. I have an older Toyota and I take my car in to them every summer before my road trip and they take care of it fully. They are extremely honest when it comes to the work they are able to do at their shop versus work that needs to be done at the dealership. They are very nice and no nonsense at a competitive price.

I couldn't recommend this guy (Ed) highly enough. He and his mechanics are trustworthy, top-notch guys who run a good shop. It's not the prettiest place, but it's well laid-out and efficient...proof that looks are not everything. His prices are honest and fair, and he doesn't proceed with a repair until he's satisfied that YOU'RE satisfied. Angie's List steered me to Off-Campus Motors, and as far as I'm concerned, it's another huge success story for both AL and Off-Campus Motors!

Exceptionally well, Ed found a broken motor mount, worn CV joints and a failing axle. He always checks with me to determine what I want done and gives me a cost to help with the decision. He warned me of potential trouble spots to keep an eye on and told me that those did not need to be corrected immediately, but we should continue to watch them.
