The whole experience was awful. It started out well enough with the owner coming by to do an estimate. He was very nice and professional. The bids came and they were a bit on the high side but we had good recommendations for them for quality work.
Every worker that showed up was very polite and friendly. Every person I dealt with was courteous. Where it went wrong was the actual job. Each day the worker who showed up (not always the same person) asked me what they should do next. They did not get any instructions from the company. Each day would end with some excuse or story why things were not going according to plan. The job which was supposed to take 2 weeks dragged on and on for over a month through the Christmas break into the new year. The tile work they did looked excellent and we were happy with it at the time. Nearly everything else had any number of problems or issues. The person we were supposed to be dealing with, our point of contact, went on vacation for a month just when the job started. The person who filled in didn't know much about our job and I had to go over it all again. The owner who came to do the estimate I never saw until a month into it when things were really going south.
The painting was a disaster. We had a non-toxic paint and when I asked if they knew how to use it I got the, "Well we have been doing this for decades so yeah we know how to use paint". And then they botched it. They kept saying how many coats they applied and how it was the paint's fault that it kept peeling. They tried hard but it ended up looking pretty awful. Come mid January I just wanted them done and out so I paid them and decided not to make a fuss about it.
This summer I finished the paint job myself and in doing so discovered they had not tiled the top of the shower. I was quite irritated but still decided not to make an issue of it. This week we found that they not grouted the tile properly and the tiles from the shower were popping off. This is a guest bathroom so it doesn't even get used very often. So all signs point to shoddy work.
I tried calling them this week, but apparently everyone there "was in a meeting". I left a message explaining who I was and that there was a problem. The receptionist took the message; I am still waiting to hear back from them.

Very professional. Great local folks to work with. Work crew arrived slightly early and prepped the entire site. They put tarps down around entire perimeter before ripping the roof off. The were very efficient and the job was clean and performed correctly. They also used a magnetic broom to pick up all the nails. So no trash or debris were left behind. No nails in my tires in driveway :) bonus points for that.
I had a second work crew come out to install the gutters. They did not speak English. However they knew what they were doing and worked very efficiently. The gutters were cleanly installed and work fantastically. I have used Cavins for a number of things brought out my property and will continue to use them. After bad experiences with two contractors, we hired Cavins to remodel two bathrooms. One word sums up everything about Cavins: professional. They were always on time. The workers were experienced, careful, and courteous. They were easy to work with when we wanted to make some last minute changes. They were always easy to contact. In fact, the owner of the business came by several times to check up on the project.

They have done a few different services for us and the last time that we used them was a few weeks ago. They have been very professional on both services that they have done for us. They are great guys to work with. We would definitely use them again in the future and we have used them multiple times already.
