Other contractors said that the parquet was longer than current standards and couldn't be repaired.  Rumsey cut new wood himself to make the repairs.  Stripped the old finish, made the repairs and put poly on it.  It looks great.

I'm so glad that I found Jeff Rumsey on your list of providers.  He is very professional and thorough.  The floors were in pretty rough shape when I bought the house and I wasn't sure how they would turn out.  In addition, they had vent holes in each room and a large hole where a floor furnace used to be.  He repaired them and you can't even tell where they were.  He also removed some ceramic tiles that the previous owners had glued to the wood, and that turned out great too. After Jeff's work, the floors are gorgeous!!  Overall, I would definitely use Jeff's services again when I need more work done and would highly recommend him.

Jeff Rumsey did a great job on the floor.  He was quick and did a great job.  The engineered oak floor is beautiful   We used a engineered floor that has a 3/8 inch top veneer that can be refinished several times.  The job was a huge laborious mess, but they did a great job.   I remodel houses professionally and use Rumsey floors every time I need flooring work done.

I telephoned Jeff for an estimate on a hardwood floor repair. He requested that I take photos of my existing floor and the area I needed repaired. I did so, but no follow up of any kind from Jeff.

Jeff knows his business to a T and is prompt, professional and very forthright about cost, condition and care. He works alone and is meticulous with his work. I found him personable but not overly chatty; he was here to do the work but cared about the wood, so any conversation about wood and flooring was fascinating.
He estimated one week to do the job, and one week later, it looks like a new house.
He's a great worker. Trustworthy, prompt, honest and fairly priced. Can't recommend him highly enough.

Contacted numerous times for a bid, but no response

In our pre-1920s house, Jeff refinished the wood floors throughout the entire house. With the exception of the kitchen flooring, most of the wood flooring throughout the house was original, and Jeff did a 180 on how it looked. He was very meticulous in explaining each and every aspect of his job prior to the job starting, and stayed consistent with information throughout the job. It took about 7 days, included the stairs (excluding the risers) and he gave very thorough directions for what needed to be done post-work to ensure that the floors would dry properly.
Highly recommended and a much better bid than others we received, which is even more significant because he refuses to put anything but 3 coats of polyurethane on the wood, whereas others with higher bids quoted higher with only 2 coats.

He's able to come out in a fairly short time. It didn't take long to get a schedule time. It was easy to get a schedule and the bid was very reasonable. He explained everything to me.

My experience with Jeff Rumsey makes me wish there was an A+++ rating available; and, that there was a scoring level for "work ethic.". Jeff is a rare breed of professional who not only does excellent work, but takes personal pride and interest in the quality of his work. With Jeff Rumsey, the job isn't done until it's done to HIS satisfaction. Quite honestly, his standards were levels above what I thought were possible and higher than my expectations. But that's what places him - in my opinion - levels above anyone else out there.
I didn't fill the cost of service in for a very specific reason - it's irrelevant. Suffice to say his price is fair. My home is only 6-years old and is my pride and joy. My floors now look better than they did when first installed!

I called Jeff out for a bid, he met with me pretty quick. I accepted the bid a week or so later. We sheduled a day to start. He was on the job for about 4 days off and on. I stayed in a hotel for the last part of the process. I felt comfotable leaving Jeff with my home. Jeff also worked up a sample on the floor so that I could pick my stain and see how it would look on the floor. The job was completed in a timely manner. I am very happy with my floors, they were aged and damaged. Jeff patched two old furnace holes, I cant even tell that they were patched. They exceeded my expectations. I am also a contractor that is featured on Angies list, this was my first time hiring a contractor off this site. I will recommend Jeff to my friends and my customers who are looking for a great job on their floors.

It's beautiful! They were excellent. They were very knowledgeable and knew exactly what to do. They did some extra some extra things that really impressed me.

In one of my rental homes that was built in the 50's, I pulled carpet that had been down for roughly 30 years. The original hardwood floors were in bad shape (approx 1,600 sft.). There was legacy water damage and boards had to be replaced in one room (approx 400 sft). Jeff and his helper replaced the damaged wood and the "new" wood is not distinguishable from the original wood. My floors look phenomenal, the job was done on time and on budget, and I will be hiring Jeff again on my next remodel.

I had some companies that came out and gave me the estimates but I ended up not going forward with the project at all. However, I thought that Mr. Jeff Rumsey was very professional. He seemed like he would do a very good job. It was what I expected and it seemed fair. He seemed honest and upfront about what he was going to do. He was dressed a little casually but it was fine as it did not mean that someone that was dressed like that would not do good work.

Everything went GREAT! Jeff Rumsey is a pro! He gave me a reasonable quote and explained everything that would be done to the floors. I was so impressed with his quote and obvious experience that I booked the job the same day!

Jeff advised that it would take 3 days (possibly 4) to complete the job. Since it was relatively small (350 sf), he stated it wouldn't go past that. Jeff was ready to go on the start date. We agreed on how we would handle his access to the house each day and the daily start time. Every day, he was on time and ready to go.

There were no major issues during the job. A couple of marks from his machinery were made on the painted trim in one room. I advised Jeff who immediately stated he would and quot;fix it, no problemand quot; and HE DID! I can't even tell where the marks were made. He did an excellent job on the floors and fixing the minor mishap. He is a stand-up guy!

Jeff answered all my questions along the way. He was never short or impatient with me. He knows WOOD! His experience is obvious. Jeff asked me if he could have a little extra time because he wanted to put some extra effort into filling in some slight gaps in between some of the boards. I told him the floor looked great as it was but he wasn't satisfied and felt he could make it look even better. I agreed to allow the additional work (he was still within the original 3 days).

The finished job is OUTSTANDING!! This is the second time I've had these floors done. I didn't use Jeff the first time but I wished I had. He is a great guy and wants nothing but the best for his customers. I have already called several relatives and friends and told them that they MUST use him if they want hardwood floors installed or repaired. When I build my next home, I'm going to use Jeff for that job as well. He is a true professional who CARES about his customers. Call him!!

We (he and I) weren't pleased with the initial color of the stain (wasn't dark enough) so he added additional color to the 2 coats of poly and it was perfecct. He was a total professional and will work with you until you are pleased with the job. absolutely LOVE my floors and recommend Jeff most higly!!

I find myself looking and looking at the beautiful floors I have now and wondering just what more I would have gotten for the DOUBLE the price from the other two companies I received quotes from. It just doesn't seem possible. But it is! Excellent experience. Jeff refinished about 600 sq ft of oak flooring. Lots of old spilled paint and just sticky stuff from under the carpeting. The workmanship on repaired flooring is excellent. He and crew were always right on time. He promised me he would have my floor ready by 12/23 and took some special effort to get that done. It's all just beautiful. I recommend Jeff to anyone. If you want new floors installed over cement he does alot of that work for new houses as well.

Jeff did a fantastic job of refinishing our hardwood floors including living, dining and hallway areas (approx. 400 sf). We called Jeff and he was very responsive in getting back to us and then coming out to give us an estimate. The estimate was very reasonable and included removal of all carpet and pad, sanding and refinishing all floors, repairing any problem areas including patch of an old floor furnace. Price did not include installation of base shoe quarter round if needed. We accepted Jeff's bid and he was out to our house working the following Monday morning. They showed up right on time at 8AM and had the carpet pulled by noon and were already starting to sand. There did not turn out to be any problem areas to repair and they had finished sanding and ready to refinish the floor by Wednesday. We were out of the house Wednesday and Thursday and back in on Friday. Jeff put down all moldings, stained and installed the base shoe and made the entire floor look great. We couldn't imagine anyone doing a better and faster job on our floors. His estimate was spot on. We are very happy with all the work Jeff and his crew did. Jeff only charged us his materials cost for the quarter round base shoe molding even though he had stained and installed it himself. We couldn't be happier. We will be calling Jeff in the near future to refinish the hardwood in our bedrooms.
