The owner was quick to respond to my request for quote, provide a quote, and begin work when job was approved. Job was completed satisfactory, however, a few issues throughout the process led me to give a 2 star rating. First, the quote was not very detailed and that played an issue in final pricing. I was called out to project site early on and was told that the concrete truck would not be able to arrive same day and to assess an issue that was apparent (dirt had eroded underneath driveway causing a section to sink and crack) but was not accounted for in the quote. I was initially told that the cost of the project would be higher than the quote due to the unanticipated erosion, which I approved. They also used a Bobcat machine, without notification or approval, to help in removal of concrete and proceeded to damage a portion of my lawn including a sprinkler head which I would have informed them was there had I had the opportunity to approve. They did replace the broken sprinkler head post project completion. The following day, I received a text from the owner that the new cost for the project had doubled and I immediately asked for a detailed cost breakdown to assess why the job increased by 100%. The cost breakdown I received detailed twice as much concrete being needed to complete the job (project area had not doubled(?)), more required equipment needed (I assumed that was covered in the initial quote), more trips for material (gas and time) and now 2 days of labor. I was confused as to how it could turn into 2 days of work when I was told the concrete was not available same day (that is more of a poor planning issue on the contractors part not the customer). In order for the job to be completed, I felt the cost would be much greater to halt the project and seek another contractor, so I approved the completion of the project. The overall experience reminded me of a 'bait and switch' in which once the work begins the contractor raises the cost and ultimately puts pressure on the customer to have the job completed.
