Juan has worked for me as a contractor about 10 years. After negotiating a price for the scope of the work, Juan will complete the job in a timely manner. He knows how I want a job to look and will bring suggestions to me so the finished product looks the best. He also cleans up the jobsite each day. He always puts safety first for his crew.

I had used Juan Corona on previous small jobs and things went ok. Not great, but ok. However, this is the largest job I have used him on and it was a total disaster! His "crew" consisted of various individuals, mostly his son "Shorty", all of which did not seem to be able to communicate or understand directions. I hired Juan's company on a previous rental unit I am preparing to sell. There were several areas that needed drywall repair and some "popcorn" textured ceilings that needed to have some drywall patched and new "popcorn" applied. I told him that it could not look like a repair job since it was in the kitchen/dining area. OMG...... I think a five year old with no experience could have done a better job. They painted the ceiling prior to making the repair and did not scrape off any of the existing popcorn. When they applied the popcorn to the repair, they tried to build up the popcorn to even it out with the existing ceiling..... now the joint looks terrible. I also hired Juan to do some painting on the interior and exterior of the home. The interior was not completed, and what was done, was completed in a very poor manner and looks terrible. Brush marks on the trim are clearly visible because the paint underneath shows through and the wall paint doesn't even go all the way to meet the base trim. The exterior was not completed at all. There is a gable roof on the front of the house with a roofed porch at the bottom of the gable. They got paint all over the shingles of the porch, which is visible from the street. I am now going to have to replace at least this portion of the roof due to their negligence. The remainder of the exterior was not even completed. I also on this job hired Juan's company to tile a shower in an upstairs bathroom and to tile the floor in that bathroom. They must have had their eyes closed when they installed the floor tile. They certainly didn't use any type of spacers because the joints between the tile are not straight or even. The corners of the tile do not match up and it looks hideous. As for the tile shower, it was a simple subway tile vertically installed with a 6" accent piece that was supposed to run horizontally about 5' up from the floor. It took them 3 tries to get this accent piece to look somewhat presentable, all the while I'm paying the cost for the tile they are messing up at $15 per sq ft. I finally told them to just leave the shower alone and not mess with trying to "fix" it anymore. It looks awful!!! Juan was taking draws on the job as we went along. Because I trusted him since he had done work for me previously and based upon him telling me he was going to be finished by a certain time, I was not careful about the total of the draws. I still have some money left in my contract with Juan. Fortunately, since he has walked off the job and has told me he wasn't coming back. This may be because I told him I wasn't paying him anymore until he completed some of the projects he had started, such as the drywall and painting, or electrical, or flooring, etc. After putting me off and putting me off, he eventually told me he just wasn't coming back. I am now currently using various other contractors to complete the work I had already paid Juan to do. Needless to say, I wouldn't wish this contractor on my worst enemy!
