JACK LONG FOUNDATION REPAIR

I contacted two providers, first Powerlift and then Jack Long.  The guys from Powerlift came in with devices and measuring tools to measure how far off kilt my house was leaning and quoted me around $8,000 (this was back in 1995).  I then called Jack Long and he came in and eyeballed it, and saw the same thing as the Powerlift guy, but with no equipment.  He explained to me that he can use the equipment if I liked, but he has been doing this for years and he really didn't need it to figure out where the house needed the struts.  Since his diagnosis was the same as the Powerlift guy I figured he was right, and he was.  At first things were great, but a couple years after this was done, we painted the house and noticed that it was shifting again and tried to get in contact with the company, since there was a guarantee on the work.  We could not get in contact with him after several attempts.  In a couple months I forgot about it and then I would do something in the house and try to contact him again.  Again, no contact--no return phone call.  Finally my wife called as if she was having some initial work done, not a repair or fix, this time we get a call back and a visit.  When he comes back out he tells me that we have to have the foundation repaired internally by a contractor and this will probably cost about $20-$25k.  We will be getting with Powerlift and get their opinion, but I would not recommend Jack Long to anyone.
