Mother was admitted to hospital from office with incomplete list of home meds. Admitting nurse did NOT reconcile that list with my mother SO...Vital medications were omitted for 5 days and when she was worsening it was discovered she had been missing meds; order was written that morning to resume Spireva. At noon she still didn't have the med. and was tiring. By 2:30 I contacted the Nursing office and was assurred the med was available and would be started. I believe that it was administered after a friend retrieved her spireva from home sometime around 4:00.  Day 6 earlier cultures showed  Mother has MRSA in sputum. 8:30 Dr Oglesbee reported this to mother. Explained antibiotics would be changed. Later my Sister arrived from Austin and asked Dr. Oglesbee at nurses station why new effective antibiotic wasnt started. He said it had. Sister stated it had not and verified with nurse no new meds. When sister asked Dr. Oglesbee at nurses station when the new meds would be ordered and delivered,  he stated, in front of nurses, other doctors and witnesses, "IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT'S STARTED NOW OR 2 HOURS FROM NOW". He is either misinformed in the treatment of infections with antibiotics or is deliberately misinforming patients, familys, nurses, bystanders and doctors. UNACCEPTABLE.  My sister stated that this is HER mother, it's standard practice in all hospitals that antibiotics be started within 1 hr of being ordered, that she is not stupid and has a masters in biochemestry. The nurse found the chart, verified there had been and order for Vancomycin writtend that morning, that my mother needed to be in strict contact isolation and she would address it. Vancomycin IVPB was delivered and administered in 15 min. Isolation setup followed. what will happen to those in his care with no one looking over Oglesbee's shoulder to avoid him neglecting them to death?
