I used him once before and he was fantastic. 2nd time his work wasn't as detailed. He did an amazing job in one bathroom and 2nd one I was thinking wth. When I asked if he could make the bathrooms look the same he said I've got chemo then I'm going on a trip. The time before he was amazing maybe he was just having an off week.

I could not be any more satisfied with the job Scott did.  He gave me a fair bid for the job that was described, and he performed each task flawlessly. He scraped old and flaked paint, caulked seams, replaced decayed boards as needed, and even killed my wasps!  Paint was hand rolled or brushed with a smooth, heavy coating.  No issues were found during my walk around, and there was not a scrap of trash or debris left behind.  I told Scott that I felt that I got every bit of what I paid for - which is a great feeling these days. He was prompt, attentive, and very conscientious.  I heartily recommend Scott to anyone, and I will hire him again if any additional painting is needed.

Very friendly, works long days and weekends, cleans up after himself daily, and communicates very well about updates and what his work schedule will be if it changes.

He works alone and is very neat and clean and did not make a mess. He rolled the paint instead of spraying so I feel that I got a better coat of paint. Took about 4 days for the complete job. If you care about quality more than speed, he's great.

The experience with Smith Painting was very professional and pleasant. I called and Scott came for an estimate and then set a date in which he would start the job. Several weeks later he arrived at the exact date he had said he would. He spent about a week preparing the surface and about a week doing the painting. He also repaired minor things that cropped up. THe finished job was excellent. He was also very helpful in helping narrow the paint color selections as to what it would look like on a large surface. He was also meticulous in cleaning the area after he had finished. I would not hesitate to recommend Smith Painting. I will use Smith Painting again.

Scott did an excellent job on painting the exterior of our house. Very dependable and hard working. I was impressed that he finished our large two story house in a week. I would definitely use him again.

Scott Smith was always on time with the correct materials to effect repairs. Did the necessary work in a timely manner and charged less than another estimate I received. Will hire him in the future if a need arrises. Great guy, easy to be around, and he does great work, pays attention to detail, and cleans up well after himself.

Scott Smith, the owner, completed the work in less than a week. He was on time every time and did top quality work. Pleasant to be around, steady worker for me in spite of having other jobs in the work. He is proficient at many types of repairs, doesn't just paint. His cost to me was well below other estimates. I have used him since this job and will call on him again if a need arises.

Great guy, very giving, and easy to be around.

I originally looked on Angie's list for painters and contacted two or three of the top rated contractors and then I waited... and waited... and waited. While browsing the web I came upon some reviews of Mr. Smith. I called him and left a message vaguely stating what I wanted and asked if he could provide an estimate. By noon that day he had been by my house and calculated estimates based on several scenarios. He included one for the entire house but noted that the walls did not need painting. We agreed on a price and he said he would start the next Monday. He called Sunday afternoon and asked if he could bring his trailer by so that he wouldn't have to waste time in the morning. He spent about an hour getting set up and left. He arrived at 7 in the morning and worked until 7 at night. He power-washed, sanded and caulked everything. He replaced rotten wood and a shutter that got broken. Then he painted everything by hand, with a roller and brush. He cleaned a spot off my driveway while he had the power washer out. He noticed that one of my overhead lights from my two story porch had fallen and had his wife pick up a part to fix it and he helped me install it. He offered to bring his tractor to help me move wood to my burn pile. Etc, etc, etc. He's a hard worker and a very nice guy.

Mr. Smith is a very pleasant guy, and I believe him to be very honest.
He did the job by himself and it took about 2 and a half days. Power-washed and did minor repair work the first day, painted the second day and a few hours on the third day. He replaced most of the nails in the siding with screws, which was good.
He used brush and roller, not spray.
The only real complaint I have is since he used a roller, he clogged up about 30% of the holes in my soffit vents. Time will tell if this will have a negative impact, but I still feel like he knows what he's doing.
Price was good compared to other painters (I had to buy paint myself separately, using his discount, which came to $200), but given the amount of time taken I think he may have been a little over-priced considering he is a one-man-show.
I feel very satisfied and would definitely use him again.

Scott Smith, working alone, did an outstanding job. Prep work included complete power washing, trim repair using screws to replace popped nails, extensive caulking and English Ivy vine removal and scraping that took residence over several areas all the way to the roof. He also extended four roof pvc vents an extra 2 ft to match code.
His original estimated time for completion was 5-6 days. The actual job lasted 8 calendar days but was interrupted with one rain day and one day off on Sunday. His work day usually started by 7:30 and didn't end until 4:30-6:00 with a short 30 minute lunch. I found him to be completely professional, honest, dependable, hard working and very easy to talk to.
Several items were noteworthy in making my final decision to choose Smith Painting over the others. Scott had to convince me he was insured (his agent e-mailed me a copy of the certificate of liability insurance within 30 minutes after my call). Scott told me he always uses Behr paint from Home Depot (much to my preference and Consumer Report's over the more expensive and more well known brand names). Scott's method of payment was one check due at completion with satisisfaction (no 1/3 down plus progress payments that are common with many others). Lastly the deal was sealed on a handshake, no written contract even though Scott did provide me with a short signed written proposal at my request for my own peace of mind (these days , the older I get the more cautious I become).
I would not hesitate to hire Scott again and again for any painting needs.

They did a really good job the first time. Then we had him come out again and he did a really crappy job. He did a half rear end job. We had him do some door framing and none of them are right. He charged a lot more money than he did before. He charged more money and did a cruddy job.

The owner, operator - Scott Smith- arrived for the meeting to determine his estimate and the second time to confirm what I wanted done and confirm his estimate prior to our agreed to meeting time. He was given a key to the house so he could come and go as needed and every time I stopped by the rental property he was there working. I originally wanted him to paint the inside but found a tile issue in the master bath. He also made those repairs for a nominal price increase. Did excellent work on the tile and the painting. Cleaned up after himself very well and did a great job of cleaning the tile after the job was completed. He did a great job at a fair price.
Would recommend him for any job you have. He will tell you if it's something he's not qualified to do.

They did an excellent job. They were very professional and friendly. They were reasonably priced and did a great job. They were responsive after their job. They did leave their ladder at my house, which they picked up later.

We found Mr Smith on Angie's List. We called. He returned our call within 48 hrs. He came over within the same amount of time. He gave us an estimate. He helped with choosing products. He was ameniable to scheduling that was to our advantage. He wasted no time and cleaned up after himself. It was as if he's never been there. What a wonderful surprise he was in every area. He's a treasure.
