"Mrs [Member Name Removed], Since you were not present during my encounter with your husband and dogs I’ll do my best to fill in the blanks. The finish on your floors is wearing off due to poor maintenance and excessive traffic. You have 3 large dogs, multiple cats and 3 people living on the floors. During my inspection there were visible urine puddles on the floor. The floors have not been well maintained at all. Our finish is durable but by no means invincible. In the closet, the finish “scuffing” was created by a large plastic laundry basket that has been slid in and out of the closet repeatedly. Plastic is a hard surface and when weighted with clothing and repeatedly slid in and out it will over time wear thru the finish. (I explained to your husband felt pads will help). The open seams in your floor are a result of water damage. The wood is not waterproof, nor is the finish. When moisture is introduced to the floor it will cause the floor to expand and eventually cup. In your case this could be from a spill, urine, or plumbing leak. Regardless, water damage is not covered by any warranty. The experience with your dogs is one that was beyond shocking. Your husband asked me to leave, I replied “ok no problem I’ll see you later”. His reply to me was “no you will not.” I thought it was a strange but started to leave. As I was walking to the door, he opened the back door and 3 large PIT BULLS charged me at full speed pinning me against the door. Your husband made ZERO attempt to stop them or call them off. He even made the comment “those dogs wouldn’t hurt a fly” AS I WAS PINNED AGAINST THE DOOR. Anything I said or did from that point forward was done solely out of fear and self-defense, as it was clear I would not be receiving any help from your husband. He was very aware he let the dogs in BEFORE I had exited your home. I would welcome you to open your home to ANYONE and let them see the floors for themselves. The issue is not the finish. The issue is excessive traffic and lack of care for your floors. Sincerely The owner"
"Your post is no different than every other interaction we have had with you. It’s misleading and dishonest. The text message you posted was in response to a message you sent me that was distasteful and unwarranted, 2 weeks AFTER you had paid in full and your floors were done to your satisfaction. We were not forced to redo the floors. In fact quite the opposite. We CHOSE to fix scratches, scuffs and other imperfections caused by your movers. There was no judgement that forced us to do so. You then called our office in March of 2023 accusing us of stealing 2 iPads and a bag of coins. No one from Renaissance has stepped foot inside of your home since November of 2022. Mrs [Member Name Removed], you are the only customer we have ever kept a file on in order to keep track of all the different lies you manufactured. We have been in business for 41 years. I believe that speaks for itself. Thank you, Duston"
The workers covered the cabinets and doors with plastic to keep the dust out. They worked late into the evening on the first day. They were here a total of 3 days, but not all of them were full days just the first one. When they had the floor sanded and ready for stain, they made 4 different swatches on the floor for me to choose a color from. Our floor went from scratched and creaky to smooth and beautiful. I think it looks better than when it was brand new. I am very pleased with the result. I would highly recommend Renaissance.
They were very easy and great to work with. I kept adding and subtracting to the bid until we came to a final price. Of the 5 contractors they were very competitive, but most responsive and changed up the quote very quickly each time.
We had some unexpected delays in the arrival of the special ordered wood, but the install crew was so much faster than I could have expected. The sanding had so much less dust than I expected. They knocked out installing, sanding, staining and 3 coats of poly on 1,000 square feet of the old and 1,000 square feet of new in just a week.
We unfortunately made a few scratches on the new wood when we moved the refrig and piano back our self. (They can do all that for a fee, but we were over budget on home repairs to sell the home) At a special request, they even came back to provided a small amount of stain and poly I could use for small repairs like that.
First, the night prior to starting their job I received a call from the salesman who said he made a terrible mistake and would not be able to perform the job for what he had quoted me and it would be a minimum $700 more (what it would cost him to break even). Since this was still a good deal I said ok. We then waited on the installers to show up for almost two hours the next morning as they could not find our house. When they finally showed up we got them started, packed the car and waited for the salesman to come get the first portion of money owed. We had a miscommunication with the installers and it turned out that he was not coming so the installers called him on the phone. We asked how we were to pay the initial sum and he said give it to the installers as they were trustworthy. I gave them $1200 cash, but I had to write out a receipt because they had nothing to acknowledge that I was giving them this cash. When we returned three days later the floors looked good, but the A/C was pumping at 65 deg in August and the air filters were absolutely clogged with dust. There was dust everywere. I couldn't believe they didn't warn to have extra filters on hand from their sanding....who knows how long the A/C was pumping no air because the filters were absolutely clogged. After changing them, we set off to clean all of the fixtures, wall and crown molding because there was dust everywhere, to include a huge stack in our front flower bed that they just left there. They eventually came back to put the final coating on the floor and we didn't complain too much because I was still happy with the price deal we received. After giving them the rest of the money in cash, they didn't even give my wife a receipt as I was at work....kind of made me angry. Anyway, I was going to let all of this go because I was happy with the price and job, but as time goes on I find more and more poor quality. There are a number of wood puttied spots on the new flooring section in both areas from poor installation...none in our original floor so I know it can be done better. Everything did match, but again it was just a slap together job. I'm sure I couldn't do it as quick, but I would have made it look better. Lastly, they got stain on our bathroom door and outside concrete...just sloppy. While you can apparently get a great deal, the poor quality isn't worth it.
"[Member name removed], Renaissance Hardwood Floors was started 32 years ago by my husband and myself. We have always taken great pride in the quality of our work and our outstanding customer service. When a customer is not happy the only way for us to address the problems is for the customer to communicate their issues. If at any time during the process you were not satisfied I wish you had called to let us know. We always try our very best to make each and every individual happy. As you know our warranty states that you have a three year structural warranty and a two year finish warranty. If you will call our office at 918-298-4477 we will be more than happy to set up a time at your convenience to visit with you about your floors. I will be mailing you a copy of your receipt for your records along with your original estimates and invoices. Please don't forget to call us with your issues. We can't fix things if we don't know about them. Thank you."
I would not hesitate to use Renaissance again. When I mention to friends and acquaintances that we used them, those who know about flooring nod their heads knowingly, affirming that Renaissance is the best in the area.
