Our previous windows allowed the wind to come through and the house had hot and cold areas during the summer and winter. The way the old windows were installed allowed the frames to leak water and we have stains in the ceiling from water leakage from the windows on the second floor. Also the original window frames allowed the seal between the window and frame to leak water onto the window sill.
The original doors (30 yrs +) did not seat well in the frames and when the wind blew, the doors allowed drafts.
We visited their booth at the OKC Home and Garden show at the Fair Grounds. We were impressed with the doors they made and sold. The doors when locked, lock on the top, bottom, and the side with sliding rollers that lock into corresponding latches on the door frame. The doors and frames are vinyl with metal tubing in the frames. When the doors are locked, they compress against the seal of the frame, locking out any drafts, plus they most likely cannot be kicked open by a burglar.
The Windows are vinyl and have numerous channels in them such that the voids on the outside of the windows do not go to the inside of the house. This keeps a direct path of cold or hot from reaching the interior of the house. One small positive point is the screens that are on the outside are metal, not fiberglass. We installed some casement windows that opened with a cranking mechanism so the screens are on the inside of the window.
Once the windows are in-place in the opening, 6-8 screws are used to hold the window in place, depending on the size of the window.
The void between the window and the opening is filled with foam. This prevents air leakage around the windows.
The gentlemen took their time and worked 3 days to install the windows and doors.
Because we had been taken on our previous window purchase, I was quite picky about the installation. Any concerns or questions had were answered politely and quickly. The lead installer "David" would stop what he was doing and answer my question or explain what was going on with the installation.
The doors and windows are not cheap but are well made. Our house is much quieter and there are no noticeable drafts, hot or cold spots, or leaks.
We are thoroughly impressed with the windows and doors and the time and patience the gentlemen took during installation.
If you want quality doors and windows plus proper installation, we would highly recommend Progressive Windows of Fairview, Oklahoma.
