UBuildIt

We were hesitant to go with UBuildIt on our remodel, unsure as to whether or not money saved by being our own general contractor would justify the rather large UBuildIt fee ($9,300.00). Had our project been larger, involving an add-on to our home, it probably would have been worth it. As it is, we do not feel this was a good decision. Their preferred vendors were either booked 4-6 weeks out or did not respond to our requests in a timely manner. We ended up using Angie's List to find a contractor (Eric Stewart with Stewart Carpentry) who did the majority of the construction work (framing, drywall, paint), and we used his electrician and plumber as well. UBuildIt has since started recommending this company to its customers. (It would have been nice to have gotten some sort of referral rebate for this, but that wasn't offered). We did use one of UBuildIt's vendors for our cabinets and tile and were pleased with their work. We saved about $25 on some paint with UBuildIt's discount, but that's about it as far as cost savings. We also used one of their preferred vendors for our granite countertops -- Friends Custom Granite -- but did not have a very good experience with them. They made a mistake in cutting one of the pieces and refused to own up to it, although they did give us a $150 discount. If we had it to do over again, we would not use UBuildIt. Maybe for a larger remodel project or new home construction it would be worth it, but we don't feel we got our money's worth.

Its not finished yet, but Don't use this company. They require payment in full up front and the information they supply is whatever it needs to be to get your business.
