One of the biggest problems was the huge leaks. Regardless of whether the system was on or not, I had a nice bubbling stream running beside my house. It tore up everything up and made a mini grand canyon. Unfortunately, I didn't get to have canyon tourists to pay for my $700 water bill that month. After multiple attempts to get a hold of Steve, he and his guy finally showed up (an hour late) to fix it and other problems - and to show me how to turn off the main water line to the system, which he had failed to do (the main water line lever has now broken; only half of lever is there. If it breaks, I won't be able to turn off/on the system.). Also, while he is on your property, his phone is constantly ringing and he is taking his calls. Any conversation you try to have with him is interrupted by his constant taking his cell phone out and looking at the caller id and thinking if he should take the call. One time, the phone would ring and then as soon as it stopped it would ring again, then stop, then ring. He said it was his wife and for me to just ignore it. But each time, he'd pull the phone out and concentrate. Finally I had to tell him that when he was on my property, his attention had to be focused on my property, not his other clients or his wife.
The next day, after supposedly fixing everything, the stream was back, and I was trying to get a hold of Steve again. They fixed the stream, but still did not fix many of the sprinkler zones that were incorrect, but then winter set in and the system had to be shut off because of freeze. Now his phone is disconnected.
This guy will install a decent priced system for you and has a great initial personality, but do not be charmed. A decent priced system is only good if it works. This is not the case from a system purchased from Steve Henderson or Terra Forms.
the next morning. The workers didn't show up until late in the afternoon, did some work including digging a sizable hole. They said they would be back in the morning but didn't show up. Concerned about the hole, I finally called them late in the day. Much later they finally got here and finished their work.
ONCE I MET WITH STEVE AND THE PROJECT WAS DISCUSSED HE KEPT IN TOUCH WITH ME EXPLAINING ANY DELAYS THAT OCCURRED SUCH AS WEATHER, ETC. WHEN THE PROJECT WAS COMPLETED IT LOOKED GREAT. HE IS STILL STAYING IN TOUCH AS A COUPLE OF TREES MAY NOT MAKE IT. HE HAS PROMISED IF THEY DO NOT MAKE IT HE WILL REPLACE IN THE FALL AS IT IS TOO HOT CURRENTLY. i WOULD DO BUSINESS WITH STEVE IN THE FUTURE
AND HAVE ASKED HIM FOR A ESTIMATE ON ANOTHER PROJECT.The crew showed up on time and got right to work. I showed them my issues, and they found a few more. The crew fixed everything, and my sprinkler system is finally working properly.
They did quick work, proper adjustments, and even cleaned up more than I expected them to. I liked their work and already scheduled another small landscaping job with them next week. I'll update on their work after they complete the landscaping job.
Thanks Terra Forms.
I try not to put too much stock in a few negative reviews on a service provider's site, because, well, some people just enjoy complaining. I'm thinking I should have paid attention this time though. I have had my bathroom remodeled, had 11 new windows placed in my home, and had some painting done from providers found through Angie's List...all good to fair experiences and were fairly easy transactions. Having one little tree planted in my front yard turned out to be the biggest pain of them all.
After doing some research, and choosing a very specific tree from OSU's Proven Plants program that is native to and well-suited to this area, I called several landscapers until I found one that would locate and plant a Caddo Sugar Maple. Mr. Henderson of Terra Forms gave me an estimate, came out promptly and dug out the root ball, and then his workers came a few days later to plant the tree. This is where the issues began. They arrived with a leaf-less tree that was not tagged. I asked them if they were sure if they had the right tree because it is hard to identify a tree with no leaves. They weren't sure. So, I asked the owner, and he thought so, but wasn't sure either. So, he wrote on my receipt that he would come out and replace it if it wasn't the right tree. Sounds fair. Fast forward a few weeks: the leaves came in and it became very obvious that they had planted the wrong tree. It was a very easily identifiable tree...and it wasn't a Caddo. Meanwhile, I have $60 worth of flowers waiting to be planted around the base of the tree and they're starting to look very sick in their containers (purchased just prior to finding out I was given the wrong tree). So, I call to have him come trade out the tree. I left messages for several days. On the third day he finally gets to calling me back and says he will replant it and he will call me the next in the morning. He doesn't call. I call him. Then he says he will try and find the tree and call me back that night. He doesn't call. I call him the next day and leave a message saying I would like a refund if he can't replace it that day or the next (at this point I just want to get my flowers in the ground around the base of the tree). He sends workers out that day and they plant a rather spotty, brownish, wilty Caddo. But, it's a Caddo, with a year warranty. So, that's an improvement. However, before he came I asked for a receipt from the nursery so I could verify that the right tree was purchased this time. I am allowed to LOOK at the receipt, but not allowed to keep it...and, all of the prices are blacked out with a pen and holes are poked through them. So, I'm assuming I got a good deal on my tree, I don't know. I might have just paid $300 for a $200 tree...who knows.
So, to sum up what SHOULD have been a very short story and transaction: $150 for tree planting, $200 for root ball removal, $300 for a tree I really wanted that I hope perks up and gets healthy (and that I have no idea what actually cost)...and a lot of calls to get what should have taken one, maybe two calls, to finalize. Next time, I'm just driving out to Sunshine Nursery, picking out my own healthy tree, and paying exactly what it's worth.
