I started calling him in July of last year because the plants started to look like they were dying. He advised me to continue to water them. I have a sprinkler system so they were watered continuously. I have been trying to contact him a few times a month to have him replace the plants, but I have not heard back from him. He refuses my calls and won't give the courtesy to talk to me about the situation. I've had professional landscaping before and if a plant died, the company always replaced the it.
Description of Work: He tore out all of the old shrubbery that was original to the house and then planted new shrubbery.

Response from Hutchison Landscape
Our 1 year guarantee does not apply to trees and shrubs that fail to survive because of neglect, or any condition beyond our control. (Examples: Freeze, Drought, Heat, Flood, Fire, Ice, Wind, Hail, Sleet, Tornadoes, Earthquakes, etc.) This is clearly explained at the time of installation. The summer of 2011 had 62 days of 100+degree temperatures and 22 more above 95 degrees all while under severe drought conditions. When Mrs. (Member) called in July, I agreed to drive out and look at the plants and I informed her to continue to water, and that well established trees and plants all over town were dying of heat stress. Her plants did, in fact, show visible signs of heat stress. While installing Mrs. (Member)’s Landscaping she received 3 free Miscanthus Grasses, and we did extra work at no charge, i.e., removing plants from her prior home and installing them in her new landscape. We also replaced a few barberry plants that died soon after the landscape was installed. She was clearly satisfied enough to write a check after the job was finished. I appreciate Mrs. (Member) business but she is our only client that expects us to replace plants that perished because of heat stress in the middle of a Drought that we have no control over. On the other hand, Hutchison Landscapes has replaced trees and shrubs for many clients that clearly understand they have to pay for replacements and labor and are happy to do so! Thanks
