Custom One Remodeling

We hired Custom One Remodeling on January 10, 2024 for an attic conversion project based upon Angie's List and Home Advisor customer ratings. Unfortunately, this has been an extremely disappointing experience and highly DO NOT recommend any future customers to utilize this business. We have invested $76,000, 98% paid and less than 60% work has been completed. A common theme continues with multiple missed deadlines, lack of communication, no itemization of payments made and final balance, and quality of work. Custom One Remodeling's feedback noted a delay in inspections and finalization of materials has caused a delay in the project. Common sense tells everyone that inspections do not result in a delay of a year and 2 months, and materials have all been finalized and discussed. When reaching out to the project manager yesterday as we have not heard from Custom One Remodeling in 18 days, I was informed now was not a good time to discuss this?!! This fraud and theft at its finest.

We would like Custom One to complete our attic conversion within 45 days within contract price agreement. Custom One must fix the ventilation for front bedroom/ entryway that is no longer working properly. Custom One shall properly repair all drywall downstairs damaged by their contractors during construction, to include, tape, texture, and finish paint or shall refund client in the amount of $500. Custom One must properly backfill and finish concrete inside hot water closet after final plumbing inspection or refund client in the amount of $300. Custom One will properly and professionally re-install vanity light fixture centered above vanity or refund client $200. Custom One shall properly secure floor decking upstairs- specifically in bathroom area before finishing flooring in this area. Custom One will properly and professionally install selected carpet and padding in closet and stairwell areas. Custom One will properly and professionally install vinyl flooring in the selected areas upstairs (vinyl color has been approved by client). Custom One will properly and professionally install bath tub and faucet(not approved yet by client). Custom One will properly and professionally install ceramic tile on walls in shower and tub area, and will properly and professionally install smooth stone on prepared floor in shower and tub area- (tile, smooth stone, grout not yet approved by client). Custom One will properly and professionally install shower head and rain head/ accessories(not yet approved by client but paid for through change order). Custom One must properly and professionally install granite countertop on bathroom vanity (granite approved by client). Custom One shall properly and professionally install two bathroom sinks and faucets (sinks and faucets not yet approved by client). Custom One will properly and professionally install 2 mirrors above vanity (mirror not yet approved by client). Custom One will properly and professionally install tall toilet (tall toilet agreed to but not yet approved by client). Custom One will properly and professionally install exhaust fan in bathroom as well as install bathroom door/hardware. Custom One must competently fix the tape, texture, bull- nosed corners, paint whereas their workers have failed to do so properly and in professional manner, or Custom One will refund client in the amount of $2500. All work must pass final City of Oklahoma City inspection schedule, to include but not limited to: electric, plumbing, HVAC,…. Custom One must complete a proper final cleaning of finished area or shall pay client in the amount of $500. If Custom One cannot fulfill these terms, the client seeks to void contract with Custom One and shall be refunded in the amount of $35,000.

I would not hire this company. They have no idea what custom is when finishing your project. To many mistakes to list here. We were promised many details that were never followed up on. Was promised many finishing dates that never happened. Had two contractors show up at my house asking for money because Brett had not paid them. The last straw was Brett showing up three weeks after a promised completion date of March 31st. I was then told to look at my contract for completion date of April 10th. I guess their word means nothing. Contractors showing up late at night and weekends because this job was not their first priority. I had a doggie door that was to be made custom built, but then was going to be made out of plastic handicap signs.

Complete incompetence when months on end went by without responses of incomplete work. I had to threaten to contact the licensing board in order to get a response via text. When we finally were fed up and tired of waiting for our black backsplash and the tile to be delivered and installed, he delivered the wrong tile that was already paid for and tried to tell us that we still owed him more money. Unbelievable complete incompetence do yourself a favor and do not hire this guy.

Great team!! Bret have been very helpful and accommodating to my wifeâ s picky taste, that alone wins in my books. Pricing is reasonable and get things done pretty quick. Would recommend them!!

All in all, they have been great to work with. Would hire them again.

Bret and Don have been great to work with. They communicate well and have really helped me come up with a cohesive long-term plan for the home improvements we want to make over time. I've been very happy with the work they have already completed. I'll be happily working with them for years to come, Highly recommended!

I would highly recommend this company. They not onlyl have extensive knowledge of remodeling needs but fantastic and dynamic ideas. If you want something other than status quo, I suggest you give them a call and let them give you their ideas.
