Speedy response to initial call for bid. A few challenges on scheduling both on my end and theirs :)
Tough way to make a living on a brutally hot day with heat index around 115 yet the three man crew could not have been more friendly, hardworking and polite.
With a morning appointment, the crew arrived early and went right to work. They blew the insulation into the attic at the required depth, using rulers tacked to ceiling joists as a reference.
The difference was immediately notable, since, on the day the insulation was installed, the temperature soared to over 100 degrees in the afternoon. I noted that the A/C went longer between running cycles and did not run as long.
The folks at Affordable Insulation have done us right and I highly recommend them.
When we installed the composition roof we had no idea how much heat was escaping through the shake shingles. After we replaced the shake with composition (which sealed in the heat) we found our upstairs A/C system was not up to the task.
These last two very hot summers we have had difficulty keeping the upstairs comfortable in summer. When the temperature goes super hot 100+, 81-83 degrees inside upstairs at five o'clock is the norm. Not to mention the A/C was running continuously.
On Monday I called Affordable, and the owner called me back within the hour.
He gave me an estimate immediately over the phone because I knew the square footage.
We agreed on installation Wednesday( 2 days). They came out blew in the insulation and were out in less than 45 minutes.
Today the temperature is 106 at 5:00 the upstairs temp dropped to 75+- degrees.
Needless to say it was money very well spent. The service though minimal was exactly what I needed.
The price for this in many area's is .65 per sq. ft. so I thought that .50 per sq ft. was quite reasonable.
