Additionally, the cost of service rating changed because my cost went from $95 paid to the business to hundreds (and hours) more now that I have to repair/replace the countertop.

I was very pleased with Lee's work and would have recommended his service to others. However, the only negative was that the Clobber product (plumber-grade Drano-type product) was placed on my master bathroom's laminate counter top and it ate away the lamination in a couple spots. He dripped a small amount and then the plastic bag that surrounds the bottle must have had it on the bottom because when I picked it up off the counter top at the end of the day (he came in the morning), that's right where the bottle was left.
I know it's a bummer for both me and that Lee probably didn't want to deal with a situation like this either because it was just a small job, but at the end of the day it's not my fault so I decided to call him and let him know this happened. Lee asked me to text him some pictures and said he'd talk with some people to see what could be done to repair it. Then I didn't hear back from him so I checked in multiple times. One day, when I was out of town, he texted that he'd be there tomorrow morning and I couldn't be there since I was out of town. That was weeks ago and I haven't received a reply to any of my texts since. I sent a message via Angie's List, since that's where I found his information, and someone from the office apologized for the situation and said they'd have Lee get in touch with me. That was over a week ago so I decided to leave a review in hopes that Angie's List can assist in getting Lee to contact me back and handling his error. In fact, if he would have come over to the house to take a look with his own eyes like he said he was going to, I had some additional plumbing work for him to do while he was here.
I was pleased with Lee's work and am sad that the Clobber was dripped onto my counter because I don't want Lee to have to deal with this, but it is a necessity. I did some research and don't believe there's any way to re-laminate spots of a counter top so my best guess is that it needs to be replaced.
Our home is 5 years old, and we've owned it since it was brand new, and the counters were in like new condition. This is the first time we've ever had any of our counter tops damaged. I hope Angie's List and Lee can help rectify this situation soon, as all this happened months ago.
"(members name removed) Called to have kitchen faucet fixed, he had ordered wrong parts. He asked if I could unstop bathroom and look at a few other things. I told him I had some drain cleaner that works good on small clogs. I stressed to be extremely careful with it. I've been handling Clobber drain cleaner for over 20 years. I put some in bathtub, and handed Clobber to (members name removed) and emphasized to put in safe place. I saw (members name removed) at Reasors that weekend a few days later, and nothing was said about damage on counter top. He told me that part for the sink hadn't came in. Sometime went by and he called to ask if I had any ideals on how to repair his counter top, that Clobber had damaged it. At no time did he blame it on me! We set a time to meet, and he canceled it, due to being out of town. In my defense he said he saw the mark that night but he waited weeks to blame me. He saw me two days later and said nothing. We work hard to be a Angie List Service Provider But will not be bullied into repairing things that are not our fault! our record shows for its self, we stand by our work."
We had sewer backup into a recently purchased rent house, flooding bedroom carpet and hallway with laminated wood flooring. I called several plumbing companies listed on Angie's List. One was actually honest enough to inform me they couldn't make it that day and I needed to call someone else.
Lee worked us in to his schedule and was there within two hours. I was still waiting for some of the other companies to get back with me to let me know when they might be able to get someone out there. It was after heavy rains in some areas and plumbers were busy.
Lee had to locate the clean out cap, as it was under dirt. He quickly unclogged the main line. He told me about a pop up type of cleanout cover, and called a local wholesale distributer and told him what I needed. He also showed me a type of bladder fixture to put on the end of a waterhose to use to unclog the drain if it should block again. The popup cover should allow the sewer line to empty into the yard, not back up inside the house. Apparently its been around about 17 years. Also used on guttering extensions into yards, so runoff is away from house foundations.
Lee was on his way to another call, so explained and showed me what type of seal to use if the toilet seal did not reseal. It was a type of silicone seal. Fortunately it resealed. I would have had to pay for another service call if he had to return to pull the toilet and replace the seal.
This house has a septic system with the pop-up sprinklers instead of lateral lines. Lee does not work on those systems, but my problem was just a clogged main house drain to the first tank.
My house was built in 1976 so the faucet of course was the old style. I had put several washers in it during the years but it always leaked a little. I knew it would have to be replaced and the only way to remove the thing is to hammer out the mortar around the faucet and cut a hole(s) in the inside wall for access. I knew it was going to be challenging. I think he did shake his head when he saw the way the copper lines had been placed. He decided it was going to be more than a one man job so he put a washer in the old faucet to slow the water flow and left for the day.
Next day he and his helper (his wife) showed up and he unsoldered the copper line, hammered out the mortar and removed the old faucet put in the new fittings and faucet got everything soldered back together. He told my wife the old faucet had a nick out of the washer seating place so after a few turns the washer was chewed up and wouldn't stop the water.
I just wish I had called him earlier when it was warm. He earned his money for sure.
I was really shocked when I saw the bill was less than $200.00 because I truly expected at least a $500.00 bill. When I had the other outside faucet replaced several years ago I was charged almost $400.00 then.
AAA Plumbing will be my first call next time I need a plumber.
Like so many other things it seems, we didn't discover the bad news of a leaking sewer line until the end of the week. Friday morning I used Angies list for the first time to find a service provider and found out that this plumber just north of us in Collinsville was highly rated.
I called with the hope he could get to us before the end of the year. To my surprise he said he could come by at the end of his day (~2 pm). He called with a head's up when he was nearby (others say they will do that, but never seem to) and by early afternoon the sewer pipe was doing its job again.
It was a tricky transition between the cast iron coming out of the house and the piping downstream, so a trip to Locke Supply was required. Otherwise this would have been a very quick fix. The original installer of the septic system (Coppage) also had a problem with the connection, so this was not a deficit with AAA, but I did pay for the time expended in his making that trip - thus the ding on the price rating.
I didn't use the Angies coupon for this simple repair, because I didn't want him to know I was on the list and risk getting biased service. I wanted an accurate measure of his performance because of some upcoming work, and I'm looking for an honest replacement for Steve's Action Plumbing (Steve was great! but he wasn't who worked on your plumbing unless the repair went wrong - watch out for the helpers). I told Lee that my not using the coupon was a $10 tip for a job well done
