Customers say: Terrific value

Suntech Sun Control has been in Tulsa for over 20 yrs. Owned and operated by Rich Keeley

"Rich Keeley previously tinted our original windows in Sept.2001 using Madico Thermo-Safe solar control film & provided written life-time warranty on material & installation, so I contracted with him to tint new windows. I paid in advance for the solar film on Dec. 9, 2019 and for labor upon completion of the installation. In spite of numerous phone conversations with Rich & voice mail requests to provide the promised written warranty on the window film & installation, as provided for our job in 2001, he has refused to provide the promised warranty on the current installation . I suspect that he purchased off-brand solar film at a big box store, instead of the Madico Thermo-Safe brand indicated in his written bid. Rich has failed to respond to my complaint filed with the Tulsa Better Business Bureau."

Window Tinting questions, answered by experts

Do not use Windex or any glass cleaner when applying window film. These products contain ammonia, which will damage the film. Instead, use the application solution provided with the installation kit. If there is no solution, make your own using 1 teaspoon of baby shampoo and a gallon of bottled water.

You can tint the windows in your house to about 50% or lower if you want the windows to boost your privacy. This tint will make your windows much darker, making it more difficult for people passing by to see inside your home. However, keep in mind that tints this dark can be thick, which may mean you lose out on any energy-efficiency benefits.

If your window film doesn’t come with an installation kit and its own application solution, you can make your own—but don’t use soap! Instead, use 1 teaspoon of baby shampoo mixed with a gallon of bottled water. Make sure the bucket in which you mix this solution is completely clean.

While you need heat to peel back window film, the tint will often leave behind adhesive residue. You can use chemicals such as isopropyl alcohol or acetone to remove the residue, though hardware stores sell specialized solutions for this purpose as well. You can also use soapy water in a pinch!

Energy-efficient windows are judged on their performance according to a few different factors, including heat transfer, air leakage, light transference, and condensation resistance. If you're unsure whether a window is energy-efficient, look for an ENERGY STAR® label from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). If various products, including windows, meet energy-efficiency standards set by the federal government, the EPA issues this label to help consumers identify energy-efficient products.
