I asked SWM to to build an add-on 2-car garage/workshop. They drew up the design to our request and provided the documents needed for HOA and architecture committee approval. Changes were required to pass the committee. They were easy changes and didn't impact the schedule.  Everyone in our neighborhood loves the new addition (air conditioning and heating, extra deep and wide, taller doors, wired for everything, porch on one side overlooking the yard!) and talks of contracting with SWM for an addition of their own.

It has been really good.

We couldn't have been more pleased.  SWM and all their employees and subcontractors were very responsive and seemed like old friends by the end of the process.  We lived close by and were able to stop by quite often to watch the progress, talk to the subcontractors, and generally keep an eye on things.  We enjoyed the whole process so much!  We managed to have several last minute changes in plans but SWM personnel never got stressed out and accommodated our changes every time.
From the beginning we were impressed....  SWM has a wonderful lady, Nan, who does the pricing and works with you on design.  They also have an architect who can make any necessary changes to the plans as you go along (and we had several - since we had a picture in our minds of what we wanted the house to look like).  Once we purchased the lot and finalized the house plans, the construction commenced.  Every group of contractors that worked on the house were very professional and did excellent work.  We got everything we wanted and absolutely LOVE our new home.
Anyone who contracts for a house with SWM will be more than pleased at the process and the end result.  If we could have rated them on everything with an A+ we would have done so.

Second home built by SWM & Sons.  Quality work, easy to deal with, everything went smoothly, good subcontractors and best of all the company wants you to be happy with your home.  Home was finished by the date promised, very few details had to be resolved after moving in and were done in a timely manner.

They did a good job. My wife dealt with them.

Everything has gone beautifully with the exception of interruptions by mother nature.  We are on track though and should have the home completed by April.  I will update this rating after we are ready to move in.

Stan and his staff are exceptional! He really listens to what you want, can make suggestions on the spot and stays on top of ALL homes he is building continuously! He hires locals to your area when they do what he says and under his timeline. His office staff is very helpful and friendly. We already recommended him to many people and he has already finished my sisters home across the street from us! We WOULD recommend him to anyone building a home!!!

SWM build our home approximately 20 years ago.  Since them they have become SWM and Sons have added units specializing in re-modeling and comerical construction.  I do not have any recent information on the quality, timeliness. etc. of their current work, but the fact that they have been in business for a very long time says a lot of good things about them.
The only systemic problem I noticed with SWM during the construction of our home  was that sometimes changes or special construction requirements did not make it from the office to the sub-contractors in the field.  I would advise anyone with special needs or requirements to visit the construction site daily to insure that the work is being done as per your contract.  Most of SWM's sub's were happy to visit with me and eager to explain the ongoing work.
The only serious problem with our home over the last 20 years is that it was plumbed with polybutylene pipe which leaks at the connections and will eventually need to be replaced.  A devistating project both from a construction and financial point of view.  It should be understood that this was the industry standard for home construction at the time our house was built and not the fault of SWM.  I would highly recommend that any piping installed below the slab be incased in a carrier pipe so that it could be removed and replaced without trading up the floor or putting the water piping in the attic.

Too many details to list.  Suffice to say,  SWM outlined the entire process and was spot on with the finished product.  If I build another house in this area, SWM will be the first (and likely only) place I go.

They built a nice and sturdy house for us. They were communicative and professional. We watched them every step and we were over here all the time as they were building.
