"This was an unfortunate project with which to be involved. The client was unhappy with the slab we poured. This was a result of pouring up against an exterior wall over a stem wall where we could not see the slab which we were trying to match. When the client removed the wall, portions of the slab were 3/8" above the existing. As the client agreed, this was because the existing wall obstructed the slab. We offered to remove the slab and re-pour but the client wanted to just grind down the edge of the new slab where it was too high. I suggested that it would not be effective to do such and that it would be better to float out concrete over the existing slab to smooth out the transition. The client agreed. In fact, we did absolutely everything the client asked and then more. To say we bent over backward to try to make her happy would be a large overstatement. In fact, the client called me on a Friday to thank me for finally making her happy after an admittedly tumultuous project. I thanked her and asked if we could collect on the project. She said yes. So we planned to meet Saturday morning at 10:00 to collect payment. I was unable to meet because of an equipment breakdown on the farm. We arranged to meet the following Monday instead. The following day, Sunday morning I received a phone message saying that I was not to come to the house Monday and that I and "my goons" were not allowed on the property and that the client was not going to pay us because of all the extra work she had to do to fix her house. This was of course quite an unexpected change of mind, given our discussions over the previous several days. I have several pages of details of the whole story if anyone is interested in a play by play of what happened. I sincerely regret that after we did everything the client asked and agreed to she has taken this stance. To make matters worse, she posted this review a full year after we completed work on her house. We were paid half upfront and then never paid the balance. In addition, the client filed a $10,000.00 claim against my insurance for "damage" to her house on a $3,600 project for which we were not paid in full. I would love to tell the whole story in detail to anyone who wants to hear. I really do not want to embarrass the client and feel that she must be genuinely hurting. I know whatever she is going through is not the result of any transaction with my company. I take exception to the idea that I would "bully" anyone for any reason. This accusation is absolutely untrue and ridiculous. Also, the accusation of not doing anything up to code is completely false as well. This is just highly unusual and I struggle to understand the motive. I welcome any questions with regard to this project and this dispute. I would love to tell the whole story that I have forwarded to my council on the matter. I also offer any former client as a reference."
"Watkins Services would have loved to receive a perfect 5, but the owner did not communicate any issues he had with the work. Upon completion, we asked the owner to let us know if we needed to correct anything at any time, even in the future. Apparently we missed something, which we regret."
