My experience was PRE-2011, more like 2007. I've successfully hired several other contractors since this experience. THIS was the worst time I've EVER had with a contractor. | |They promised to complete the work by a certain finish date. Not only did that date pass, but it was months later before they even got started on the project, a total remodel of a living room, including new doors and trim, paint, crown, and chair rail. | |We bought expensive doors to go into the living room from the kitchen. The doors didn't fit, so finish carpenter cut them down. He cut off too much, so there was a big gap in the middle where they were supposed to meet. I addressed this with Tim and he said it wasn't his fault that the door was an odd size and he had a fine finish man who "wouldn't make that kind of mistake. Besides, the price of those doors, I'm not going to order another." The trim man apologized privately to me for cutting too much and said he'd do what he could to lessen the gap. | |Paint job on the door trim was dreadful! After the nail holes were filled, the painter just went in and painted over the nail holes. You could see every brush stroke. Tim told me that 'if he'd have known I was that picky, he'd have hired real painters' instead of letting his carpenters paint. | |While cleaning up one afternoon, painters cleaned their brushes - unfortunately inside the living room. Somehow a splatter of brush cleaner ended up on one wall. It blistered up the new paint and took numerous attempts to get it to cover again. | |As with most jobs, we added a few things to our list as the job progressed. The pricing for the first work was extremely reasonable, but the added things (same type of work) were priced out of the park. Though we paid him, we have done everything in our power to warn people that this guy is to be avoided. There are lots of GOOD contractors out there. Keep looking. I'd never want anyone to go through what we did with these guys. | | |
