Our first contact was made in August to get the estimate etc. We chose them because they seemed more reasonably priced (???) and they said it should take about 2 weeks. They said they could start in 5-6 weeks, which would bring it up to October to mid October. That was okay thinking it would be done well before Thanksgiving.
They didn't start till about November 1st, using MANY excuses as to why. One excuse was their cabinetmaker was behind schedule. Another was that someone was sick, someone quit, and again the cabinet maker was behind!
We said they could be doing other things while waiting on the cabinet! When they finally got going on the job, they would not be here for a day or 2 at a time (supposedly working on other jobs). We felt we should have had priority because of when we hired them.
They said they would try to have it finished for us by Thanksgiving.... When they had problems putting our new stove in place, it didn't fit & they pushed it only about 1/2 way back, saying now we can cook for Thanksgiving. (This was on Wednesday.. the day BEFORE Thanksgiving!) Then they didn't show up till one week later!
They were the one's who measured for the new pantry, and it did not fit when they went to put it in! They had to trim the window frame it was next to in order for it to fit!
This whole time, we had everything in other rooms to accommodate them. We were crowded and remained as calm as we could through it all. When it was all over and done with, and he was paid, we had asked for the tiles left-over so we could match any in the event one broke etc. we had to call several times to remind him to drop them off. When he did drop them off, he just gave us 1 box and we know there were at least 3-3 1/2 boxes left from the job.
No way would we recommend them for a remodel job to anyone.
The one thing I have learned about home renovations is that there will be bumps in the road and things will take longer than expected. So, was the process "perfect"? No, but then I don't expect it to be. That is the nature of home renovations; you don't always know what you're getting into until you get into it. And some of the delays were my own fault for not picking out materials in a more timely manner or changing my mind. When I did have questions or comments regarding the work or the process, they were very good about listening and working with me to get things right. Any minor problems were worked out and taken care of in a professional manner.
Were the results "perfect"? Absolutely. I love my new bathroom and can't wait to get moved in. And I keep thinking of projects for them to do!
