"Thank you for the review! My pleasure working for such a wonderful customer!"
"We removed Termite damaged wood in an older building on a crawl space and laced in new wood. When you lace new wood into old wood there is not always an exact match of dimension and appearance and termite damage is particularly bad on old subfloors. I gave [Member Name Removed] the option to remove all of the wood instead of doing a patch but he opted out of that option as it was more expensive. I did not "leave gaps." We filled the patch and the filler came out, which it [Member Information Removed] sometimes do when your subfloor is not rigid and bounces when you walk on it. Such was this case. I went back and filled the gaps with flexible filler. I met with [Member Name Removed] and gave him a quote in Oct/Nov of 2016 at which time I explained to him about doing major restoration work on his floor would require touchup paint. I'm not sure of anyone tearing flooring out and nailing new flooring back and refinishing could do so without touchup. Touchup is expected in any kind of construction that requires major surgery such as what we did here. He hired me about 8 months later and didn't even show up to talk about the job the day we started. He was on vacation for two weeks and sent someone over to open the door for us. Who, evidently was also scheduled to go on vacation two days after we started. I explained that we would be leaving the hvac system on after we were done sanding to aid in the removal of humidity so his finish would dry properly. We were instructed to drop the key off at a neighboring business and someone would set the alarm as soon as we put on the last coat of finish. In this case I did everything I was contracted to do and more. I offered to send a painter there and touchup any "scuffs" we did. [Member Name Removed] opted not to do that. I offered him a $150 dollar discount to hire his own painter which he gladly accepted. If he would have given me a key and alarm code and asked me to check on his building after we were finished. I would have."
1) They had all A reviews on Angie's List.
2) All but one estimate were pretty close but with Angie's List coupon Mayo Bros. was a bit less than the rest.
3) They were able to install tile flooring in addition to hardwood so we could get entire floor done at same time.
Caleb was very responsive and easy to work with. He explained every step of the process and was responsive with any concerns that we had. The job took longer than expected due to issues beyond their control, the tile store messed up our order so they had to delay tile installation and on the days that they were finishing the hardwood it rained for days on end so the high humidity in the house caused delays in the buffing and final finish coat. Even with the delays it seemed that Caleb was doing all he could to get the jobs done in a timely manner. I also appreciated that anytime I called or texted Caleb with a question or concern he was quick to get back with me. We are very happy with our new floors and I would definitely hire Mayo Brothers again in the future.
His crew was fast, efficient and respectful.
We had extensive water damage due to an outside faucet freezing and bursting on an inside wall. I wanted to make sure that the repairs were done correctly. Caleb explained that the process to replace the wood floors would take them about 3 weeks. Tearout one day and then let the slab dry for one week to make sure any water left would dry out. Reinstall new flooring, then one week to let the wood acclimate and then the last week refinishing the floors. He was right on target with his time frame.
I had gotten a few other quotes from other flooring companies, some from resoration companies and Mayo brothers was the most knowledgeable about the process to replace the water damaged wood flooring and they were the least expensive. I didn't feel they would take short cuts to get the work done fast. Which could have caused cupping to the new floors installed.
My new wood floors are stunning and I couldn't be happier with the finished product. I would highly recommend Mayo Brothers Wood flooring.
