From the Ground Up Landscape and Construction

We recently hired From the Ground Up to renovate our home. We could not have been more disappointed in the quality of work that was performed by Jim and his subcontractors. A few examples of issues that were found: Tile shower shelves not properly framed in and waterproofed, lighting hung with screws directly in drywall (instead of electrical box) over area where my child plays, counter-top supports and sink framing installed such that they provided no actual support, cabinet door hinges installed with missing screws. These are just a few of the multitude of issues that were found after work was "completed" and will need to be repaired at great cost to us. Do yourself a favor and find someone else for your project, these guys are crooks.

I received an unexpected benefit recently when time came to do some work on our house in preparation for a move. I had contracted From the Ground Up (FGU) for lawn service for around eight years. When I contacted the owner, Jim Miller, about doing some landscaping work, I discovered that Jim also does home repairs and remodeling. Though we were in the process of getting bids on several specific projects needing attention, I asked Jim for bids on those same projects. I ended up using FGU on all but three of those projects, mostly because of price. To be truthful, I wish I had gone with FGU for two of the jobs for which we went with a different contractor, even though I would have paid a little more. In this case "you get what you pay for" was certainly true. The work done by the FGU crews was excellent, exceeding our expectations. I cannot recommend From the Ground Up more highly to those looking for a full-service remodeling of their homes and properties.

We now have a fresh looking yard with fescue, an area suitable for an herb garden (decomposed granite), and a flagstone walkway. In order to get there Jim and his team hauled off all of the debris, brought in plenty of topsoil, removed unnecessary shrubs/plant material, and rolled turf grass. Oh, and did I forget to mention they fixed the electrical issue? Overall, my wife and I are happy with the results. Jim had a positive can do attitude and we had ample back and forth communication during the process. We’re glad we could get this done, and in a timely manner. Thanks again Jim and team!

The job went great.  They turned a disaster into the prettiest lawn on the block.  The retaining wall is beautiful as well.  We really enjoyed working with Mr. Miller and his crew was professional and fast.  Hope to work with them again in the future.
